“By education, I mean on all round drawing of the best in child and
man in body, mind and spirit” - Mahatma Gandhi
Keeping in pace with the modern era and still remaining rooted in
the pillars of intrinsic values is the ultimate challenge of
today’s education. We have endeavoured to leave no stone unturned
to provide optimum facilities and opportunities for bringing every
student’s potential into realization in whichever field they aspire
to blossom. Our firm belief in persistence, perseverance, honesty
and the benign blessings of almighty gives us the strength and
courage to face new horizons and soar higher and higher in the
skies of success.Soundarya P Manjappa
Chairman
The actual fulfilment of education is the holistic development of
an individual traversing body, mind and soul. In the era of
globalisation and development, the young generation should be
mentally strong and socially responsible too. And this is what we
constantly endeavour to achieve in SCS through a strong value
education programme. We firmly believe that education should help
to cultivate true human beings with sound ethical and moral values
that will help them find solutions to the challenges of life.
We strive to create an exemplary teaching learning environment
which nurtures the child and echoes the powerful thoughts of Swami
Vivekananda, “the end of all education, all training, should be
man-making.” “Education is the manifestation of the perfection
already in man”. SCS will constantly strive in the pursuit of this
noble thought.
Mrs. Sunitha P Manjappa Managing Director
The mantra of our school is to initiate holistic development. Great
educationists and saints have advocated that unfurling the latent,
inherent talents of an individual and harnessing it to enhance the
mental, physical and emotional quotient of a child is the need of
the hour. We tirelessly strive to fulfil the dreams and aspirations
of every child to grow and reach out for the stars.
Mr. Keerthan Kumar - CEO
“The highest education is that which does not merely give us
informationbut makes our life in harmony with all existence.” -

Children - the wonder beings…….. - Mrs. Rajeshwari
Children are around 2-1/2 years old when they step out of their
warm and cozy homes into the outside world for a few hours before
they go back to the same familiar environment called home. A
relatable experience would be when the child comes out of the
mother’s womb and starts crying because the child has to adapt to
the world around her/him. Similarly, after the settling period as
we call it, the child accepts the new place, feels comfortable and
somewhat trusts people around enough to let go of the parents. Each
child is unique and handles this separation in different ways. As a
teacher, I have always loved to help children settle, they take
time to feel safe and loved before they attend school without
sobbing. Some children would take close to 2 months to settle down
and start working; patience and trust is all that works. Some of my
children have struggled to get over their past bad experiences
where their weeping was not dealt in a compassionate way and had
left them scarred, they feared the word “school” and they would
need extra care and love to trust and feel safe again, at times
testing our limits of patience by crying and tantrums. If the
teacher can continue to love the child during those difficult
moments, the battle is won and the child feels safe. It is also
important for parents to be strong because very often it is the
parent who is not ready to let go of the child.
Oftentimes, parents use threats like “I will go away if you don’t
eat….; ” “if you don’t listen to me, I will complain to your
teacher;” or “I will leave you at school today if you don’t
behave….. ,” etc. leaves the child insecure and hence the child
will be unwilling to leave home or be prepared to stay at school.
It is important to empathize and help the child feel secure.
They say eyes are windows to the world; eyes also give a peek into
the soul. A lot is given away when you look at the eyes of a child,
all the feelings are written clearly and no language is needed to
understand them… just an empathetic heart…. Children may not be
equipped to express their feelings with words yet. A gentle hug, an
eye contact with a smile, a high-five or greeting them with their
name is all they need to feel accepted.
Children give a lot more than they receive. We respect them, they
learn to respect; we are honest with them, they learn to trust; we
show concern, they learn to care; and when we express our emotions
in a safe way, they learn to handle their own emotions. Children
are like a sponge which absorbs any liquid that it comes in contact
without differentiating, be it kerosene or milk. It is important
for us to be aware of this quality and provide the right
environment so that they absorb the right values. We have to model
the behavior we want to see in them, sooner or later they will be
the best version of themselves… look into their eyes, into
innocence, honesty and love and remember their personality is
shaping by looking around…..
“Speak to your children as if they are the wisest, kindest, most
beautiful and magical humans on Earth, for what they believe are
what they will become.” – Brooke Hampton
I have no fear to touch the sky If I become satisfied; With the
sphere, I would not like myself to tie I want to fly in search of
pi. I want to conquer the world Beyond the horizon Where emperors
rarely do reach the aliens By their philtre virtues Under the sword
of reason; To break the walls Of the dark prison That prevents the
moral spectrums From colouring the world bright, Through the
conscious prism.
I’m sure One good thought can mean Thousands of good deeds, The
deeds cause to produce genes Of millions of seeds, And the seeds
will form a fruitful scene Where among others a beggar also
feeds.

The Soaring Falcon Genetic Palindromes. A palindrome is a sequence
of letters or words that reads the same forwards and backwards.
Some examples of words that are palindrome – civic, level, noon
etc. Palindromes also occur in the genetic material DNA
(Deoxyribose Nucleic Acid).DNA is responsible for the inheritance
of characteristics from one generation to another generation.
The meaning of palindrome in the context of genetics is slightly
different from the definition used for words and sentences.DNA is a
double stranded structure arranged in the form of a helix.
Two strands of nucleotides in the DNA run in opposite direction,
one from 5’ to 3’ and the other from 3’ to 5’. The nucleotides in
both the strands of DNA always pair in the following way- Adenine
(A) with Thymine (T) and Guanine (G) with Cytosine(C).
Nucleotide sequences are said to be palindromes if they are exactly
pairing with their reverse complements. For example, the DNA
sequence GAATTC is palindromic because on the opposite strand of
the same section of DNA helix, it is complementing to CTTAAG.
Reversing the complement order gives the original sequence.
Palindromic DNA sequences are same when read from 5” to 3’ on one
strand and 5’to3’ on the other complementary strand.
IMPORTANCE: Palindromic sequences of DNA are frequently involved in
the regulation of different cellular processes. Genetic information
is said to be stored in these DNA palindromes.

The world of Hydroponics In this growing world, due to increase in
population we are facing many problems. One such problem is
shortage of land, water and many other natural resources. This is
the main cause for shortage of food. Scientists and naturalists
have found a new method of growing plants without soil, using
mineral nutrient solutions in water solvent. This method is called
as hydro-culture.
Hydroponics is a subset of hydro-culture. It was first introduced
in 1627 by Francis Bacon, a practitioner of scientific method -
from London.
In this method, plants are grown by providing all the nutrients and
other facilities except soil. It can be useful in areas where we
face shortage of fertile soil, climatic problem, problem of weeds,
etc. This method is very effective in saving water, since it
requires only 10% of water compared to the ones grown in
fields.
As we know that a single coin has two faces, hydroponics has some
disadvantages. Major factors to be considered here are availability
of water and continuous supply of electricity. It also needs
experience and technical knowledge.
At present, it is used in Australia, Canada, US and Holland. It is
yet to be started in India. Indian scientists are still studying on
it. On a whole, Hydroponics is the art of growing vegetative plants
in nutrient enriched water which is a very good step for
eco-friendly environments in cities like Bangalore.

Don’t Skip Breakfast After a night’s sleep, the body is ready for a
much needed feed to kick-start the metabolism. Just grabbing a bowl
of carb-heavy sugary cereal or a slice of toast doesn’t really cut
it as they can make you hit an energy slump and feel super sleepy.
Ideally look at a breakfast that contains both protein and smart
fat. This will feed the brain and body with essential nutrients
giving you a feeling of fullness and setting your body up with a
stable energy boost.
Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and an avocado would be an
example. The eggs bring the protein, the salmon brings oils that
help your brain and the avocado brings good fats – the kind that
can actually lower your cholesterol. If you are short on time, opt
for porridge with fruit and a scoop of yogurt. Intermittent fasting
can certainly work for some people if done correctly.
Breakfast is often the meal to disappear in this regime. If you are
keen to give it go, I had advised trying it for one to two days to
see how your body responds. On the other days, stick to a healthy
breakfast.

School A school is a pious place of learning. It is said to be the
temple of Goddess Saraswathi. The school plays a significant part
in shaping the future personality of a child. A good school is a
centre for learning good habits at a tender age which has an
everlasting impact. Only a few schools in big cities are good
centre of learning and education.
My school’s name is Soundarya Central School and it is one of the
best schools in my city. Our school is a 7-storey building having
classes from Montessori to 10th standard. Our classroom is spacious
and airy. Our teachers teach us with great care and
attention.
I like my school very much. I take pride in being a student of such
a good school. I love and respect my school.

Pet Animals Pets are like our family members. I have a dog as my
pet, its name is Tommy. Its colour is white with brown patches on
its body. It has been trained before we had it as our pet dog. It
is very faithful and obedient. Tommy is very active and playful. It
can smell any danger and barks at strangers. He normally eats
vegetarian food but also loves fish. It shows love and respect to
our guest by welcoming them. It loves playing with the ball and the
both of us spend a lot of time during the holidays playing with my
bat and ball. It guards my house too. I am very fond of my
dog.
