About the Skeletal SystemIt has 260 bones forms a ridge framework to which the

softer tissues and organs of the body attached.Vital Organs or protected by the skeletal system, the brain is protected by the surrounding skull as the heart and lungs are encased by the sternum and the rib cage.Muscles are connected by ligaments, where muscles meet are called jointsBlood cells is produced in marrow which is located in the center of the boneBones serve as a storage are for minerals such as calcium and phosphorus.

BonesTypes Of Bones

Long Bones: are longer than they are wider and work as levers. The bones of the upper and lower extremities are made of this.

Short Bones: are short, cube shaped, and found in the wrist and ankles. Flat Bones: have broad surfaces for protection of organs and attachment

of muscles. Irregular Bones: are all others that do not fall into the pervious

catigoures. They very in shpe size and surface features, including the bones in the vertabrea and a few in the skull.

Bones CompositionBones are made of tissue that may take one of two

forms are Dense Bone and Spongy Bone.* Dense Bones: its hard and forms the protective

exterior portion of all bones.* Spongy Bone: is inside the compact bone and is very

porous (full of tiny holes).

Axial Skeleton• Includes the skull, the hyoid bone, the

vertebral column (spine sacrum, and coccyx), the sternum, and the ribs.

• Its components are aligned along the long the outside of the body.

Appendicular Skeleton Include two shoulder blades and two collar bones and the shoulder blades are in the upper back and it meets with two bones, the humorous and the clavicle.Because the shoulder blades is part of the shoulder joint, the shoulder blades must be mobile to allow upper freedom of movement.The clavicle coordinates with the sternum and the shoulder blades, giving support to the pectoral gridle and the adding stability to the shoulder joint.

Joints• Bones of the skeleton coordinates at joints.• Joints from three categories of movability: Freely

movable, Slightly Movable, and Immovable.• A joint capsule covers a joint for protection.
