S.I.V.E.T. COLLEGE(ACCREDITED WITH B++ GRADE BY NAAC)
A GOVERNMENT AIDED CO-EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONAFFILIATED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MADRAS
VELACHERY MAIN ROAD,GOWRIVAKKAM, CHENNAI - 600 073.
To educate the mass continuously, help to develop their natural abilities and create a curious innovative mind.
To inspire an increased learning and diffusion of knowledge to understand good will and peace through discipline, conduct and integrity in every student to strengthen our country
Our College Crest consists of the Rising Sun, Lotus and Garuda (Eagle). The Rising Sun represents knowledge dispelling the darkness of ignorance. The Sun has been one of the early Gods in the Hindu pantheon and rightly our Rishis dedicated the Gayathri Mantra to Him. Lotus is a sacred flower to the Hindus and is considered to be the abode of Goddess Lakshmi. Lotus also represents Gnana and Karma. Garuda is the vehicle of Lord Vishnu, the God of Preservation, among the Hindu Trinity. It is our wish and prayer that the alumni of this institution imbibe the high ideals represented by these and let their thoughts, words and deeds be as pure as Agni, as cool as Lotus and as soaring as Garuda. Garuda is also a symbol of the Vaaniar community and represents the fact that this institution is started by it. The Crest also contains all the five primal elements viz., Prithvi (Land), Appu (Water), Tejas (Agni), Vayu (Air) and Akash (Ether).
The college motto “f‰wid¤J CW« m¿î” is taken from Poyyamozhi-p-pulavar Thiruvalluvar and means “The more the learning the greater is the wisdom”. May this be our lodestar.
In this present changed scenario, students are compelled to strive hard to overcome many stumbling blocks in their life. To overcome them he/ she have to accept the present with the past ideals and take them forward to the future.
This holistic approach shall help them to be successful human beings. At S.I.V.E.T. the students are equipped with both a good education and the necessary skills to overcome the hurdles. I wish the students to make use of the learnt skills towards the progression of the society in which they live and spread the fragrance of their alma mater.
The present generation must be dynamic and productive in all spheres of their life. The adeptness to hold a dynamic and successful personality is through sheer hard work and by disciplining oneself.
Students at S.I.V.E.T are given a very good exposure to both academics and the job oriented sectors. It is a must for every student to outshine in all aspects of his/her life. He/she must use the learnt skills to bring good name to the institution, Parents and the Society in which they live.
India is my countryAll Indians are my Brothers and SistersI love my country and I am proud of its rich and varied heritage.
I shall always strive to be worthy of it.I shall give my parents, teachers and all elders respect and treat everyone with courtesy.
To my country and my peopleI pledge my devotion; in their well-being and prosperity alone lies my happiness.
NATIONAL INTEGRATION PLEDGE
I solemnly pledge to work with dedication to preserve and strengthen the freedom and integrity of the nation.
I further affirm that I shall never resort to violence and that all differences and disputes relating to religion, language region or other economic grievances shall be settled by peaceful and constitutional means.
Thou art the ruler of the minds of all people,Thou Dispenser of India’s destiny,The name rouses the hearts of Punjab Sind,Gujarat and Maratha, of Dravida, Orissa and Himalayas. It echoes in the hills of Vindhyas and Himalayas,Mingles in the music of Yamuna and Ganga,And is chanted by the waves of the Indian Ocean. They pray for Thy blessings, and sing Thy praiseVictory, Victory, Victory to Thee.
The song ‘Jana Gana Mana’, written by Rabrindranath Tagore, in Bengali was first published in 1912 and set to music by the poet himself. It is an invocation to the Dispenser of India’s Destiny praying for His blessings.
Besides, the older national song ‘Vande Mataram’, it has been associated with the struggle for Indian freedom and was sung in the Constituent Assembly at its historic midnight session on the 14th August 1947. On the 24th January 1950 it was adopted by the Constituent Assembly as India’s National Anthem.
