Nutrition sets students up for learning

Good nutrition is at the cornerstone of being ready to concentrate and learn

Kids need sustained energy and balanced nutrition to give their developing bodies and minds the nourishment they need every day

More than 35% of weekly calories consumed by children while at school

Changing the quality of those calories can impact nutrition and health

We have the power to move the needle

What do we need to do?

• Replace poor quality foods with high quality foods in kids’ diets

• Decrease consumption of foods of minimal nutritional value

• Make school meals satisfying so kids go home full and don’t stop at corner store for chips, candy, soda

• Improve quality of ingredients kids are consuming – real cheese, real meats, fewer additives, preservatives and fillers
