G OD has a way of elevating His children. Before such people were born, He makes sure He had invested something into their destiny, so that at a point in their lifetime on earth, He then calls them; empowers them; justifies their calling and use them for His own glory. Later He then glorifies them (Rom. 8:30). In the bible, children of God like Jacob who at a time was a fugitive was elevated by God to become founder of the 12 tribes of Israel (Gen. 32:10); David was elevated from a shepherd boy to becoming the king of Israel (Psalm 78:70-71); Peter, Andrew, James and John from illiterate fishermen to global reformers who restored lost souls to Jehovah. From very low estates, these people were elevated by God that some were almost thought to be a god. Moses was a slave boy who became the deliverer of Israel from bondage and terror to Egypt. Paul and Barnabas were empowered to do creative miracles to the extent that the people of Lystra wanted to offer sacrifices to them as gods! The little errand boy Samuel was elevated by God to become the next High Priest and kingmaker in Israel. This month of November, God will begin to carry out His predestined plans of elevation in our lives as His children in Jesus name. He will equip and empowers us for the lifting that is coming; He will in plain terms justify our callings; and He personally will supervise the upliftment in Jesus name. By Pastor Samuel Obafaiye A STOUNDING is defined as bewildering or striking dumb with wonder; or so surprisingly impressive as to stun or overwhelm. While accomplishments could be defined as the act of carrying out or achieving; something achieved or successfully completed; gained skills or talent; attainment of social grace, style, and poise. After God ordered Elijah to anoint Elisha as his successor; Elisha left his lucrative mechanized farming and became a servant to Elijah. He would run errands for him and take care of his master. The time came when God was prepared to take Elijah away; Elisha’s contemporaries began to make mockery of him that he would soon be like them, but Elisha was determined not to remain as an ordinary son of a prophet; but as someone spectacular. So he demanded for the double portion of the anointing of God upon his master. The bible records that Elisha was able to fulfil the condition set by Elijah and so received the double portion of his master’s anointing! The sons of prophet that thought Elisha was already stranded at the other side of Jordan bowed before him and called him ‘Master’ after he parted the Jordan River and walked through it on dry ground! (2 Kings 2: 1-15). In the year 2012, the Spirit of God says He will make us to achieve feats that are astounding; gain talents and skills that are staggering; and enjoy attainments of social grace, style and poise that are startling! God remembers you when men forget you. God will suspend all natural laws to elevate you. God will elevate you in the presence of your enemies and detractors. WHAT CAN I DO TO BE ELEVATED? CONCLUSION HIS is a story of divine elevation, God sent Prophet Samuel to the house of Jesse on a divine elevation assignment but when he got there David was nowhere to be found, he was missing. The elevation was for him, not his brothers yet he was missing. May you not be missing on your day of elevation in Jesus Name. There are four things which can be learnt from this bible passage about what God does when He wants to elevate someone. In 1 Kgs 15, God gave King Saul an instruction through Samuel which he disobeyed and that was the process that started the elevation of David. King Saul was given a clear instruction that it was time to punish Amalek for what they did to the Israelites when they came out of Egypt, In Exodus 17 : 8 the Amalekites attacked the children of Israel and in the same Exodus 17 : 14 God told Moses to write a memorial in the book and recount in the hearing of Joshua that He will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under the earth. Now you might be wondering what did the Amalekites do that God said he would wipe them off the surface of the earth, when the Israelites came out of Egypt, the Amalekites attacked and killed the weak and the feeble that were behind Deut. 25: 17 - 19 and this angered God and He promised to exterminate Amalek and that was why he rejected Saul because he refused to carry out his instructions to the fullest. At that point Saul’s elevation expired with God and the process for David’s elevations began, my prayer for you is that your elevation will not expire with God in the name of Jesus. But I must warn that as many of us that God has elevated, we should realise that God will not hesitate to demote anyone that disobeys him. Saul became a casualty instead of the Amalekites as he was brought down from his exalted position as a king, may you not be brought down for the sins of others in the name of Jesus and if someone will have to be brought down may the person not be you in Jesus Name. (Ps 75: 7) Saul’s decision not to kill all the Amalekites put the nation of Israel at the risk of extermination in the book of Esther 3, Haman an Amalek who was a descendant of Agag plotted to wipe off all the Jews but for God, that is why it is important for us to obey God now and always because our obedience now has effects on our generations unborn. David was forgotten by his father and brothers. Jesse made all his sons except David to parade in front of Samuel and did not remember David until he was asked if he had any other son. One would expect that he would have asked about the where about of David from the brothers before Samuel did, but he totally forgot, Jesse paraded all his sons except one. I declare unto you that on the day of your elevation, May God and man remember you in the name of Jesus. A man had 8 sons and on the day when God chose one of his sons to be made king, he forgot that he had 8 sons and paraded 7 sons. Now, let’s give Jesse the benefits of doubt that he was old and his memories might have failed him, what about the 7 brothers of David, could we say same about them, no. Not even one of them remembered David? To them, if it was not them it could not be David, David was a non-entity, David the small boy? They had written off that nothing good could come out of David. People may have written you of in your family or workplace, they may have thought that you will not amount to anything in life but because God lives, you shall be elevated, may God fight for you and give you victories in Jesus Name. David almost missed out on his day of celebration because for one reason or the other, his father and brothers chose to forget him but for God he would have missed out. You will not be found missing on your day of elevation and promotion in Jesus Name. Under normal circumstances in our present day, if anyone is going to be made a king in a family, it is usually the eldest son. But in the case of David all natural laws were suspended because God wanted to make him king. It is not how qualified you are but how God qualifies you and God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the call. I declare in the name of Jesus that all man made laws working against you shall be suspended in the name of Jesus and you shall be elevated. David was the youngest of all the sons of Jesse, yet God chose him to be king over Israel. You may be here and you are saying, if only I am this, if only I am that, if only my parents were wealthy etc. The good news for you is that God is not a respecter of man (Acts 10:34, Rms 2:11). He doesn’t care about your backgrounds when He wants to elevate. God is not subject to any natural laws because He is a supernatural God who does wonders. The brothers who thought David couldn’t be anointed as king and forgot about him were present when David was anointed. Psa 23 : 5 Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies, thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Those that thought you will not amount to anything in life will present on your day of elevation in Jesus Name. Apart from obeying God, living a holy life and praying. The other thing is to believe God and be expecting your elevation. Our believe system as Christians is important to being elevated by God. You need to believe the promises of God for your life, believe that it shall come to pass in your life. Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. And blessed is she that believed, for there will be a performance of that which was told her from the Lord. Luke 1: 45. Unfortunately, most Christians do not believe enough that faithful is he that has promised that he would bring it to pass, we are too fearful and doubt God. God is unimpressed by unbelief. James 1:6 - 8. But let him ask in faith with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of sea driven and tossed by the wind For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord, he is a double minded man, unstable in all his ways. No one who is doubtful will receive anything from God. Whom God chooses to elevate is his prerogative and he chooses those that love, honour and obey him. God chose to elevate David not because he was the most qualified or he was better than his 7 brothers that were rejected, in fact no one can tell the reasons why God did, but I want you to remember that it is only God that can elevate you and when it is time for you to be elevated, no one and nothing will be able to stop you, you shall surely be elevated in Jesus Name. For my Bible tells me in Psa 75: 6 that promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. It did not mention North, because north belongs to our God. David was chosen by God because of one thing and is found in the book of Romans 9: 15–16 . . Excerpts of a sermon delivered by Deacon Bolaji Cole on November 18, 2012.
