T HE hands are very important parts of the human body. They are used to perform several functions: touching; grasping; feeling; holding; manipulating; writing; working; caressing; warring; etc. The bible makes us to know that even though God is a Spirit, He created the human being in His own image and likeness. That therefore tells us that God has hands. The bible also tells us some of the things that the hands of God can do. There was a competition between Ahab the king of Israel who was racing on a chariot and an aged Elijah the prophet of God who was jogging on foot. At the end of the race from the desert to the gate of Jezreel (about 17 miles), it happened that Elijah came first! The bible however makes us to know that it was because the hand of God was upon Elijah (I Kgs. 18: 41-46).For astounding accomplishment to happen in the life of a fellow therefore, it is necessary that the ‘hand of God’ to be upon that fellow. This month of October, the hand of the Lord God Almighty will be upon us to take us ahead of ‘chariots’ of life; the Hand will put us before the ‘Ahabs’ – of life; and make us triumphant in Jesus name. By Pastor Samuel Obafaiye A STOUNDING is defined as bewildering or striking dumb with wonder; or so surprisingly impressive as to stun or overwhelm. While accomplishments could be defined as the act of carrying out or achieving; something achieved or successfully completed; gained skills or talent; attainment of social grace, style, and poise. After God ordered Elijah to anoint Elisha as his successor; Elisha left his lucrative mechanized farming and became a servant to Elijah. He would run errands for him and take care of his master. The time came when God was prepared to take Elijah away; Elisha’s contemporaries began to make mockery of him that he would soon be like them, but Elisha was determined not to remain as an ordinary son of a prophet; but as someone spectacular. So he demanded for the double portion of the anointing of God upon his master. The bible records that Elisha was able to fulfil the condition set by Elijah and so received the double portion of his master’s anointing! The sons of prophet that thought Elisha was already stranded at the other side of Jordan bowed before him and called him ‘Master’ after he parted the Jordan River and walked through it on dry ground! (2 Kings 2: 1-15). In the year 2012, the Spirit of God says He will make us to achieve feats that are astounding; gain talents and skills that are staggering; and enjoy attainments of social grace, style and poise that are startling! We are a chosen generation that has been called to manifest the virtue and praise of God. The virtue of God is the same as the glory of God. So God intends that the world should look at us and see God’s virtue, glory and praise in us. In Isaiah 40:5, the bible says the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it. The glory of the Lord shall be revealed through your life in Jesus name. May you become a carrier and a reflection of who God is in Jesus name. This is the plan of God for our lives and that’s the reason for the topic ‘Reflecting His Glory’. In John 17:21-22, the bible tells us that Jesus prayed that that His disciples may be one as Him and Father are one. He also said that the glory that the Father has given to Him, He has equally given to the disciples. This is pleasant news for us that the glory that belongs to Jesus has been passed over to us. May nothing take that glory from you in Jesus name. Though we have our own part to play as the glory will not just appear automatically. The bible says Jesus is the express image of the invisible Father. No man has seen God at any time, but the only begotten Son has revealed Him unto Mankind. While Jesus walked the face of the Earth, He revealed the God unseen. Philip once said to Jesus, ‘show us the Father…’. Jesus answered him that anyone that has seen Him has actually seen the Father. Everything Jesus was to His Father is what Jesus wants us to be to Him. That is why He said, ‘As the Father sent me, so send I you’. What He was saying is that the way I represent my Father on Earth in power, grace, glory, character, conversation and beauty, the same I want you to represent Me on Earth. I decree that every glory destroyer and power that wants to supress your shinning be taken off by God in Jesus name. Every spiritual manipulation that wants to dim the glory of God upon your life shall be destroyed in Jesus name. I am conscious and cautious of the fact that God wants me to be a reflection of His glory, so I pray every time for grace so that the beauty of God be seen upon my life. David said in Psalms 90:17 that the beauty of the Lord be seen upon us. The word beauty has the same meaning as glory. Moses came down from Mount Sinai in Exodus 34:29 and his face shone with the glory of God. He knew not that he was carrying the blinding glory of God. They had to put a veil on his face to talk the Israelites. I pray that the cloud of glory will not leave you behind in Jesus name. Moses reflected the glory of God because he hungered for it. He asked God in Exodus 33:18 that God should show him His glory. How many of us have that hunger? Many of us are just concerned with our daily provisions. The glory of God is priceless and valuable. The man who carries the glory of God will always be relevant when material things become irrelevant. Even though God told Moses that His presence will go always with him, Moses was not content. He wanted more . Contacting the glory of God requires time. You will need to tarry in the presence of God in worship, and in place of prayer. Moses tarried in the presence of God that was why he reflected God’s glory. People that tarried with wine becomes drunk (Prov. 23:29-30), people that tarried with God became filled with the Spirit and their lives becomes a replica of God.
