Busy Builders

Busy Builders 3rd grade students work cooperatively to construct urban, suburban, and rural

communities showcasing various things communities must have and things that we want such as libraries, schools, police stations, hospitals, and even

video game stores and parks. Their teachers are very proud of all their hard work and are glad they enjoyed their Social Studies project!

Lisa, was born and raised in San Antonio. In 1999, I moved to North Carolina. I

married a United States Marine and was stationed at Cherry Point. For the past ten

years, I have worked as a director and program coordinator for an elementary

school in Havelock NC. I will be completing my bachelor’s degree in Early

Childhood Education (birth-kindergarten) at the end of this month. I have a 3 yr

old daughter, named Avery. I am so grateful to be a part of an awesome school. I

look forward to an exciting school year.

The first skate night of the year was a big success with an attendance of over 140!!! Students from throughout the district

came out to skate the night away and get some extra exercise in for the day. We had a bunch of new beginner skaters out there giving it

their best and trying their hardest. Although many of them fell down…all of them got back up to try again.

We also had talented skaters showing off their backwards and speed skating skills. The next skate night is scheduled for

Wednesday Oct. 5th

from 6pm to 8 pm. It is $3 to get in and includes the skate rental. Due to new rink policies for events, all kids will be

charged the $3 even if they are not skating. (Except infants) But please remember that the money raised does go back to the

schools as this also a fund raiser event that benefits both the elementary and secondary campuses. Thank you for your support.

New books are available in our elementary area. Note that we have started a new collection: Early Fiction, composed of early chapter books that are more advanced that our picture books but not as advanced as our J fiction books. We are pointing out the shelves to the students, and we'll be happy to show you as well. (This collection includes Junie B Jones, Cam Jansen, etc - lots of familiar titles.)

More new books coming shortly!
