Safety Improvement to Shut down auger in the event of top cover removal during operations

Option 1. Pull cord installed along length of top cover.

Option 2. Position switch with safety function

Option 3. Interlock switch with tamper resistant key mechanism.

- Regardless of which of the three options are implemented the system must be fitted

with an Immediate Stop Brake (ISB). The ISB is a fail safe device which will ensure

that the auger will shutdown within 0.5 seconds of activation of an emergency

shutdown.

- Safety stickers must be clearly visible.

Three Options for Increased Safety of Screw Conveyors

Immediate Stop Brake (ISB) provides

automatic shutdown of the auger in

the event of an emergency. The ISB

uses an inverter driven control system

for variable speed operation and is

recommended as mandatory for all

auger systems.

•Easy to install

•Cable retained by either welded or bolted brackets along length of top cover.

•Cable ties attached to top cover bolts to ensure tidy cable run along length of trough.

•System wired back to the starter control panel / ISB2.

•Activation of the pull cord, cuts the electrical supply to the motor which then activates the ISB2 bringing the auger to a complete standstill.

Option 2 - Install position switches between top cover and trough

Total of four position switches to be installed on each trough (two at each side) to ensure any attempt to remove the top covers will automatically shutdown the auger.

Switches are linked to the ISB2 for automatic shutdown in the event of a trip.

IP 65 switches pre-wired to suit installation.

Option 3 - Interlock switch with tamper resistant key mechanism

Tongue operated safety interlock switch that fits onto the outside of the trough and top

cover.

High tolerance to top cover misalignment by using a flexible actuator.

IP 67 and cabled pre-wired to 3 metre lengths
