COUNSELLOR’S CORNER It is that time of the year where the Grade 8’s have finished their course selection sheets for their high school courses. Foremost on their mind is their transition to high school. For many Grade 8’s this can be a stressful period as they have been connected to their teachers and peers for 3 years! Parents are encouraged to contact the respective high school counselor, especially if there are special concerns

that would be helpful to communicate to the high school now rather than in September. On the horizon is the planning and welcoming of the Grade 5 students that will be attending Scott Creek next year. In the forefront is the upcoming and most anticipated Spring Break! It is hoped that students and their families will have an enjoyable and restful two weeks. Let’s hope that this Spring Break is a sunny one!

Also performing on this day will be the Choir and the Jazz Band made up of talented seniors from the Glen Pine Seniors Center. We are looking forward to

Calling all baseball players! It is that time of year to sign up your kids for Little League Baseball! I am encouraging parents to sign their kids up (boys and girls) to play baseball this year from your middle school. Coquitlam Little League is your local path to the World Series of Baseball. Our league runs for 8-12 weeks of regular season baseball. For our Blastball and Minor divisions, the season runs from the middle of April to the middle of June. Blastball is played at Rochester school and Minor is played at the Winslow fields beside Como Lake Middle school during the week after 6pm. Our other divisions run from the beginning of April to the middle of June. The Rookie and Majors divisions are played at Mackin Park and Brookmere; and the Junior, Senior and Big League divisions are played at Blue Mountain Park. Here is the registration information from our website with ages and pricing: http://www.coquitlamlittleleague.ca/registration You can register online or print and mail the registration to our PO Box 47541, Coquitlam, BC V3K6T3. We have a proud history of Little League Baseball in Coquitlam since 1955 and we have a great program that teaches all kids the game of baseball. In past years, Coquitlam Little League has represented Canada at the Little League World Championships several times in the past: in Williamsport, Pennsylvania; Taylor, Michigan; Tucson, Arizona and Easley, South Carolina. In the year 2000, Coquitlam’s big league team won the Big League World Series (Fraser Valley Orioles), the only time a Canadian team from Little League that has won this prestigious event! Thank you for your consideration, Harry Warren President of Coquitlam Little League
