Message from the Principal

Hi Everyone

Shrek Tickets went on sale last week and saw a steady

rush of sales on the first day. Since then sales have been

at a more relaxed rate and as we move towards the

holidays we anticipate that families are organised for the

two evening extravaganza. For parents of children who

will be experiencing their first production event one of the

big questions is ‘how do I drop off and then later pick up

my child?’

The ‘sign in’ and ‘sign out’ procedures are quite rigid and

depend on parents following the procedures that will be

sent home in the week before the shows.

The scenery works and major costume working bees have

all but been completed. Mrs Sheppard and class teachers

are now beginning to draw the classes together to gain a

sense of the scale and movement in a larger stage area

than the drama room. Costume requirements have been

published and are on the website and Facebook page.

Please familiarise yourself with these and have them

ready as the new term begins.

From the seed of an idea, these separate entities are now

converging towards a point in time… the first week in

August… I can’t wait!

Farewell Mrs Lori Head

Lori Head and her family are taking on a ‘sea change’ and

are moving to Phillip Island. Over the years that Lori has

taught at Montrose she has worked exclusively in the Prep

area, and so has the joy of seeing children from prep right

through to Grade 4.

Since Lori indicated that her shift would be happening a bit

earlier than she had originally planned, we have been

working hard to find just the right replacement. I would like

to officially welcome Kate Ruck to Montrose PS to be part

of our Montrose prep team. Kate joins us from Heathmont

East Primary School and brings with her broad

experience. Since her appointment, Kate has been

working closely with Lori to meet the children and some of

the parents and effect a smooth handover prior to the

holidays.

Uniform Shop – Price Rise There will be a small price increase in our Hooded and Ribbed Windcheaters as of the start of Term 3. We also have quite a few second hand black items on our rack at only $2 per piece. Drop in to the uniform shop to check them out. Wednesdays 3.00 – 3.45pm *************************************************************************************************************

Chicken and vegetable soup was served in the canteen last Wednesday and with all the empty cups returned, it appeared as if the children really really enjoyed their soup. Our counter service was really quiet at recess as it was raining and all the children were in the classrooms for a wet day timetable. This made our counter service at lunch time INCREDIBLY busy. The queue for the canteen was as long as we could see and Claire and I didn’t know what had hit us. My Grade 6 son popped in to say hello and I quickly put him to work serving Moosies. As Friday was a Student Free day we had no lunch orders but the canteen was still busy making morning tea and lunch for our teachers for planning day. GINGERBREAD and SWAMP WATER Gingerbread and swamp water drinks will be available to purchase over the counter on Wednesday at recess and lunch. A limited quantity will be available until sold out. Canteen Volunteer Thank you A BIG thank you to Claire Seymour for helping in the canteen on Wednesday. What can I buy? This week only - Gingerbread $1.50 and Swamp Water $2 Amanda

Shrek Production Tickets The tickets to our production have proven to be very popular and have sold quickly. If anyone has tickets they no longer need, please contact the office and we can sell them to other families. We would like to get as many families in to see the children perform in this wonderful show. Production Transporters Needed We would appreciate anyone with a trailer or ute that could help us move our fantastic Shrek Production Set to the George Wood Theatre. If you can help with this please leave your

details at the office.
