As always February has been month full of activity, colour and crea- tivity. There has been an array of events that took place throughout the month. There was action in each corner of the Institute. As the gardens started to be in full bloom from bas- ant panchmi, so were the students of SBSPGI. The sequence of activity ranged from Chemcon-2015, conclud- ing meet of annual sports, and the most awaited event of the year, The Sardar Gurcharan Singh Memorial 8th National De- bate Competition that was a grand success with great team spirit of the participating nationwide colleges and ofcourse a remarkable hospitality by SBS fraternity . I appreciate the management of the Institute for providing this platform to the students of the Institute and students form Universities and colleges all round the nation at the Na- tional Debate Competition. It is commendable that an Insti- tute of post graduate level gives such an opportunity to its students. This adds on to the over all development of our stu- dent. Because we aim not only to educate them but to pro- duce a complete professional, well versed in all aspects of professional and personal growth. Enthusiasm and ambition was what could be felt in every sphere. I feel the phrase “all work and no play makes jack a dull boy” was well proven in this month. The students were relatively relieved from their hectic academic schedules and they got a chance to nurture and portray their hidden talents. Singh deserves this assignment by the virtue of his deep concern for ecological preservation which is well evident by the massive plantation done by him in Balawala and nearby areas. We wish that his wise planning would help preserve the biodiversity of Uttarakhand heritage.

Editorial
W hen I sit to write the editorial note I always cher-
ish the month of February. As always February
has been month full of activity, colour and crea-
tivity. There has been an array of events that took place
throughout the month. There was action in each corner of the
Institute. As the gardens started to be in full bloom from bas-
ant panchmi, so were the students of SBSPGI.
The sequence of activity ranged from Chemcon-2015, conclud-

“Our Gene and Genomes – Past, Present and Future” on February 04,
2015, organized by Uttarakhand Council of Science & Technology
(UCOST).
Dr. Vandana Jugran Negi, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, has
been awarded Ph.D. on topic “Synthesis and biological evaluation of
certain selective COX –2 inhibitors” from Uttarakhand Technical Univer-
sity, Dehradun.
Prof. F. C. Garg, Director, SBSPGI, attended International seminar on
the topic “Our Gene and Genomes – Past, Present and Future” on Feb-
ruary 04, 2015, organized by Uttarakhand Council of Science & Technol-
ogy (UCOST).

Kinghpex 2015 - A rendezvous of collectors
The Philately Club organized Annual Exhibition-‘KINGHPEX’ on 6th
Feb. 2015. Large number of Stamps, Coins and First Day Covers (FDC)
were displayed by the participants. The winners declared in various
categories were as : Stamps Collection: 1st Prize – Shubham Kotnala
and Somit Nabiyal, 2nd Prize – Amit Singh Jakhi, 3rd Prize – Rinee
and Lavish. Coins Collection: 1st Prize –Gurnam and Ganesh, 2nd
Prize – Shubham Kotnala and Somit Nabiyal, 3rd Prize –Vaishali and

SBSites Shines at Spring Festival– 2015, Rajbhawan
It was another proud moment when SBSites brought laurels at the
Spring Festival-2015 at Rajbhawan, Dehradun. The Raj Bhawan
was ablaze with the colors of Basant where students participated
in the events like Fresh Flower arrangement, Floral Rangoli, On
spot Photography etc. Twenty students of SBS accompanied with
Dr. Anupama Singh (Convener, Nature Club, SBS) and Dr.
Siddharth Sen (Convener, Photography Club, SBS) participated in
different categories. Students of SBS performed exceptionally and
awarded 6 prizes in different categories. Mr. Aayan Yuvraj Singh
(BPT), and Ms. Vaani Triwedi (MPT) secured 1st
Position and 2nd
position respectively in Fresh Flower Arrangement. Capt. Nalini
