Message from

Jamie Collingridge

April takes us to sales in New York and Paris, as well as London.

There's a good cross-section of clocks to look at – approximately 60.

They include both traditional English and French decorative, with a

few German, Swedish and Italian examples included for good measure.

Vulliamy seems to be very much the maker of the moment and in

New York on 7 April you will find a good example of one of his

ormolu, marble and biscuit porcelain figural clocks (lot 121).Also in

that sale it is worth taking a peak at a Queen Anne walnut table clock

by Markwick (lot 228). For the more technically-minded, here in

London on 23 April there is an unusual Dent marine chronometer

with staple balance (lot 98) or for those looking for a nice drop dial

wall clock for the kitchen we have an excellent example by Dutton &

Son (lot 97).

In contrast to the Dutton, the same London sale includes a conical

pendulum novelty clock by Farcot, which at 49 in. (125 cm.) high is

one of the larger examples of this model (lot 93). For those looking for

furnishing pieces, all of our salerooms offer a good selection of French

decorative clocks this month.

Kind regards

Jamie Collingridge
