AVALANCHE & SHARKS Tonight is the first of four meetings between the Avalanche and Sharks in 2013-14. San Jose is the only Pacific Division team that willface the Avs four times this season (the others will all play three games against Colorado). San Jose is the only Western Conferencefoe who has yet to meet the Avalanche this year. • The Avalanche are 40-29-9 in 78 all-time meetings against the Sharks. • Colorado finished 1-1-1 against San Jose last year, 0-1-1 on the road and 1-0-0 at home. • Jamie McGinn was a second-round pick of the Sharks in 2006 (36th overall) and played his first four NHL seasons with San Jose. • Scott Hannan played three-plus seasons with Colorado from 2007-08 to 2010-11. RECORD START BEHIND THE BENCH Patrick Roy led the Avalanche to a 6-0-0 start, tying the NHL record for consecutive wins by a head coach to begin his career.
