Who could be considered a father? 1> One who feeds

you i.e. provides food 2> One who keeps you away from

fear 3> One who educates 4> one who caused the birth

(biological) 5> One who performs the sacred thread

ceremony.

These five qualify to be called "father".

This book is dedicated to the one who fulfils all his

duties as a father. I am sorry for not being the ideal son

but I will make sure to live the life you dreamed for me.

I always thought I had a hard life but my hardships

are nothing in comparison of your hardships which you

went through in order to get me to where I started.

I dedicated this book to the creature who

undoubtedly taught me the invaluable lessons of life by

nurturing my soul and enthusiastically provided all

means for growth and upliftment.

Thank you papa……………you will always be

missed

A self experience note-

Treats your parents with loving care, you will only

know their value when you see their empty chair.

Author’s Note

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man

who never reads lives only one.”

First of all I would like to thank all the readers who

opted to read this book, I am grateful to you all for

espousing this unknown writer‟s debut work and I am

promising you in advance that when you finished

reading the last page you all will not feel disillusionment

with your decision.

I am not a professional writer so mistakes are bound

to be happen but as I am a professional banker I am quite

sure the investment which you will put in this book by

buying or reading will be lot lesser than the return which

you get when you fold the book after reading.

I always aspire to be a writer and to achieving my

passion I waited almost 30 years and because of this

only I requested each of my reader don‟t to waste further

time for pursuing your passion and just go and do it and

don‟t think about the outcome. The story “Yours

unfaithfully forever “is an apocryphal story and the

characters which I used is completely fictional, if any

similarities arises than it will be a pure serendipity.

I put a lot of labor to make this book a “good

book” to read and also make a lot of sacrifices in terms

of money and time so anyone who don‟t like this book

kindly took this book as a mental excises as a great

writer Mr. Richard steele once said “Reading is to the

mind which is exercise to the body”.

This book which you all holding on your hand is a

long overdue dream and I am thankful to all my friends,

family and readers to make this dream a reality. I

sincerely hope all my travail, drudgery and toiling which

I goes through for writing this book must be paid off

with the unconditional love and support of you all. I

wishes all the very best to all my readers and if even a

single person started passionately to chase his/her

dreams after reading this book than the very first motive

of writing this book will be fulfilled. I proffered you all

to the fictional world which I created with my

imagination and bids you all to „happy nostalgia‟ with

this powerful quote on passion- “a person can succeed at

almost anything for which they have unlimited

enthusiasm”.

Prologue

“Where the hell is your presentation?” Mr. Thomas

shouted loudly in vexation, “sir it will be ready in an

hour, I promised” I said slowly to avoid any more

confrontation with my senior manager, “it better be” Mr.

Thomas somehow manages his outrage and warned

soberly and added “I am noticing for quite some time

you are not in your usual self, is there anything

wrong?”, there was some fake concern showing clearly

in his voice but to end the discussion I decided not to go

deep and said “ no sir, everything is alright, the

presentation will be at your desk by 12:00 pm”, I said

and left Mr. Thomas cabin without noticing his facial

gestures.

Today is the first day of November of the year

2013, the place is Dubai and despite of having some

relaxation from the as usual hot and humid temperature I

am fuming and livid, not because of my British manager

Mr. Thomas scolding {I am getting paid for all this

lambasting, and getting handsomely} but because of

sandeep‟s whatsapp message.

I knew this thing has to happen but I did not know

that it will happens so promptly, „hmm, sanjay was

indeed right then, he was not joking‟ I thought while

having a deadly combo of cigarette and coffee, though I

was busy and I have to complete my unfinished „know

your customer‟ presentation but due to this one message

in whatsapp I was not able to concentrate on anything.

After some deep thinking and some strong puffs I

returns at my seat to complete the unfinished business,

“let‟s have another look at it” I said to myself and opens

my whatsapp chat of sandeep who had sent me a picture

of a marriage card, the marriage card was of kavya, yes

kavya my first and only love, she will be marrying to

sanjay, yes sanjay my best friend of once upon a time.

They will tie nuptials on 25th November 2013 in

haldwani, yes haldwani-my birth city which also

witnesses my first ever love story.

“I had said earlier do something or suffer” dev in

his evergreen Midas touch said while hugging me

tightly, we both were drinking liquor nonstop from the

evening to celebrate „nothingness of my life‟, “can I do

something now?” I asked a question in which my life

seems to be depends. “Too late, forgive and forget that

all you can do” dev said impulsively without giving

much importance to my present state of mind, “what if

…..” I wanted to say some solution but dev breaks me in

between and said “no if no but, your love is marrying

your best friend and you have to live with it, now is the

perfect time to move on”.

Dev was indeed right, I was the one who is

responsible for all the havocs of my life and this time I

have to let it go everything that holding me back, „sach

hai ki dil to dukha hai, humne magar socha hai, dil ko

hai gum kyu aankh hai nam kyu hona hi tha jo hua hai‟

the song from kal ho na ho was playing in youtube and

all I was doing while holding my 4th can of beer was

making a flashback of my story, a story which has every

ingredient to be exceptional but unfortunately will end

on a negative note.

I am a very average looking person who lacks in

confidence but never show that thing in front of others,

despite of all low esteem I still doing good in regard to

my life, I am an assistant team leader in Barclays group

head office in Dubai which I can say I earn with my hard

work and most importantly having all my good friends

around me. The story starts in 2002 when I was 17 years

old and had just pass 10th exam by obtaining 48%

marks.

My friend annu‟s father promised to gift him the

bike if he manages to score 1st division, I told the same

thing to my father Mr. Jagdish Chandra verma and he

promised me the same thing. After getting promises

from our respective father‟s annu just abandoned the

whole friend group which consist of friends like dhanraj,

sandeep, sanjay and many more. As for me the things

remain the same, I along with other friends went

swimming, mountaineering and lot of other activities, all

these jollifications resulted in that annu scores 75%

marks in 10th board exams and got the bike on the same

day as of result and I just ran away to my uncle‟s house

located in the hilly region of ranikhet.

I only came back after my parents settles their anger

with me and accepted my 2nd division with dignity. My

parents love‟s me unconditionally and because of that I

was able to bought brand new bike “freedom” despite

getting very low marks.

Let me tell you about myself, I am hrithik verma,

son of an advocate father and a school teacher mother,

some of you might be surprised by my name and the

spelling of my name, actually when my parents enrolled

me in D.A.V public school located in haldwani in

uttrakhand{that time in uttar Pradesh} they named me

ankit ,I change my name from ankit to hrithik in class

9th after one of my school teacher “harsh sir” announces

in the class that those who are interested to change their

names they can change and just because to get some

attention from a girl I like I changed my name. In a way

I name myself, it‟s not like that I like hrithik roshan or

adore him, it was just like “kahoo naa pyaar hai” was

just recently released in the year 2000 and that was the

name strikes in my mind that time. I was of average

height that time, neither short nor long, with brown

xv

complexion, I was struggling with stammering and

because of the unwanted pauses in the single sentences I

was very low on confidence, Despite all this odd‟s

{which were only in my mind} I never show anything to

anyone about my confidence and low morale even to my

parents. I was a born charmer with good presence of

mind, funny in nature and god gifted ability to win

friends, I loved playing cricket as every other Indian and

was a wicket keeper batsman.

I always admire rahul dravid and try to play like

him which is literally impossible. Our gang was very big

as I was a known figure in my school life, average

learner, and average student but with abundance of joy

and life. That was me, infect this is me and always will

be like this only.

Due to the love for Hindi cinema, I was waiting to

be fall in love with the girl of my dreams and hoping that

someday some where I will meet my soul mate. The

little did I knew that the place for falling in love will be

my own school and the time will be when I just entered

class 11th.

I was totally filmy in nature, I was and is and will

be always a great movie buffer so it‟s not strange if I

was thinking of a love story with twists, turns, ups and

downs and guess what my story with the girls of my

dreams have so many twists and turns that even jalebi

{one Indian sweet dish} looks straight in front of this.

School Romance

(1)

“So late on the first day itself” Leela mam said

derisively, “sorry mam but my tire got busted” I gave

erroneous reply slowly to look innocent, “same age old

excuse, at least comes up with some innovative excuse

this year” leela mam said waspishly and added without

even waited for my answer “this is not the first time you

are doing this, you are a perennial late comer, either

shape yourself up or shape out”, “mam it will never

happen again” I said downheartedly to gain some sort of

sympathy from her.

Leela mam didn‟t reply anything to my phony

promise but only saw me with red blooded eyes and it

was enough for both of us {for myself and for prashant}

to understand what will happen if we did not shape

ourselves up, “Welcome to the new session, the coming

two years will determine your future so study hard” leela

mam said enthusiastically, “the same thing she said

when I was in class 8th and believe you me nothing sort

of determination happens” I whispers to prashant who

was quite busy in checking new girls out.

The school opens on 8th of July 2002 for a new

session, friends of more than a decade got separated as

few intellectuals took science, some left the school and

people like me took commerce{ though that was the best

decision of my life}.

Many new faces also join the fairly new class of

commerce, and in among unknown faces one was

“kavya mahadeva”, she was the daughter of retired army

man who recently got shifted from Dehradoon to

Haldwani. On the first day itself, when I saw her for the

first time, I feel something inside my heart for her, my

heart was beating furiously and for some strange reason

I was nervous also. I did not bring any pen as usual for

myself and though I can ask for it from anyone, I

decided to ask from her who by god grace sitting right

next to me although in a different bench.

“Do you have extra pen? I forget to bring” I ask

hesitantly

“Let me check” She replied softly After some

exploration she gave one blue ball pen, I really wanted to

talk to her more and most importantly I wanted to know

her name as at that point of time I did not even know her

name but I was too jumpy.

I kept looking for an excuse to talk to her but I

don‟t know why I can‟t be able to gather the required

spunk, I was afraid as she clearly shows disinterest on

me while passing the pen and I was not in a state to

make a fool out of myself on a first day of the new class

itself.

Though I was not talking to her but I was constantly

gazing at her and with my experience of girls I can

surely say that she was very diligent, down to earth, and

has very beautiful eyes with a little mole on her left side

of forehead.

“Just pass this book to her” swati my rakhi sister

just like always ordered me but she rarely knows that I

was so happy for doing this thing for her, the name chit

on the brown paper reads “kavya mahadeva, class11th

subject accounts book”, her simplicity blows me apart. I

don‟t remember when was the last time I asked my

mother to cover my books and copies with brown paper

and then here is the girl who is able to portray herself so

simply yet so attractive.

Although she was not the only girl who did that

with her books but actually the thing is when you like

someone you tend to start liking every little thing about

that person.

“Follow that scooter” I asked rajendra thuyal, my

friend who already had one pillion rider “sandeep joshi”

aka mamu {I still don‟t know why we started to call him

mamu but I think it‟s the beauty of childhood that we as

a human gave entirely new identity to our friend‟s} .

“Why what was the need?” asked mamu, “she is your

sister in law” I told him excitedly, and then comes some

unparliamentarily words from his mouth which I don‟t

think requires a need of mentioning.

We three followed kavya who was sitting on a

pillion seat with her father who was driving the age old

model of scoter with gujrat registration on it. After some

following I got to know that she lives nearby to our

school, might be 2 kilometre but the bad thing was that

my school was 6 kilometres from my house and her

home from my home would be around 8 kilometres that

was really quite far in terms of petrol consumption.

(2) Two months had passed and I was still afraid to have a

conversation with her, but my fear was only limited to

talking to her as I gazed her constantly from my seat

with the corner of my eyes and due to my liking for her I

never miss school, sometimes I even came to school

with high fever {I guess love is all about that only}.

Few of my friends knows that I like her and

somehow they all start teasing her with my name and all

4

this things resulted in that now the whole class knows

that I like her and the worst part was that she knows it

too.

Every time she came to class every friend of mine

started calling my name which makes the matter worse

for me, because of all this unwanted promotion I cannot

be her normal friend now as I thought she might feel

awkward to talking to me and I even fears she might be

chided me if I ever tries to speak to her.

“ Pick up is stupendous” dhanraj said, dhanraj was

the caption of our class cricket team, he was and still is

a very good cricketer, just like his name he was rich and

was very famous in our school and I had known him for

around 8 years and we were very good friends { and still

is}“Let‟s roam around” dhanraj said while pointing his

fingers towards my new bike „freedom‟, “It‟s already

3:30 pm and we have an account tuition don‟t forget

that” I reminded him, “we will go nearby only” he said

and convinced me and we started our journey.

After 45 minutes of wandering we reached our

tuition, still we had another 45 minutes for our tuition so

he drives the bike to the place which was just opposite to

our tuition place and had a railway line, we both stands

there and I don‟t know how and why, a very strange idea

came in my mind.

“Let‟s race” I said while seeing one approaching

train coming from the opposite direction towards us,

Dhanraj too join the chorus and agreed. It was likes

aamir khan‟s movie scene { ghulaam} and without

thinking much in the blink of an eye we both ran

towards the train, though being a sportsman dhanraj was

quick but because of his sandals he was not able to run

fast and I was just sprinting towards the train.

We both jumps on the side ways when we saw

moving train come closure to us but the next thing we

saw after jumping that the train slowly stops. The place

5

where train stops was not even the station nor there was

any platform, and to make matter worse we both jumps

on the opposite sides of the train tracks, therefore we

were unable to see each other.

We both started running to our respective directions

when I realize that dhanraj had parked my new bike just

close to the railway track and had also left the keys in it

only. After realizing this I went back and saw dhanraj

was already there with 4-5 railway guards. It was our

sheer bad luck that one very prominent figure of railway

department was travelling at that train and train was stop

because of his order.

We both got arrested { well kind of, as there were

no hand cuffs} and my new bike too got sealed and we

both along with railway guards sent to the last railway

station of Kumauni region “kathgodam” which was just

2 kilometres from our tuition.

The head guard there asked to both of us about our

names and fathers names and also specially asked for our

school name, the head guard took our respective father‟s

number and asked us to wait, we both started laughing as

we both really don‟t know what to do and what to

expect, we were still figuring out why the hell was train

stops.

We both were smirking when I saw dhanraj father

and started feeling some relaxation but our relaxation

was short lived as unexpectedly his father without

uttering any single word just bang him left right and

centre and kept on banging him till he got disappeared

from my eyes, seeing his father reaction I got scared and

was preparing myself to had the same thrashing but my

father came and spoke with the head guard, pays the fine

of rupees 5000 for releasing of my bike and very

casually asked me to go home, knowing my father I

knew he loves me a lot but I never expect this kind of

reaction from him.

I came to my bed that night thinking about the

incident and decided lets bury the incident in the dust

and forgets about it.

“Hey your name is in the news paper” gaurav my

neighborhood friend said, “no way, how it can be?” I

replied surprisingly, “you along with dhammu ran

against the moving train, right” he said, “which paper?” I

asked hesitantly because inside my heart I knew

whatever gaurav was saying was right and now the cat

was already out of the bag. “Amar ujala” he answered

laughingly but as it was already 8 in the clock and I was

being late for the school which was as usual so I thought

to give a miss this reading till afternoon.

I reached my school and everyone knows about the

incident through the news paper, this was not the worst,

the worst has to come and it came during daily prayer

time of our school, when the prayer was over with shanti

path suddenly my school principal asked the whole

school to wait and he announced two names from the

mike “Hrithik Verma and dhanraj singh” of 11th

commerce please come to the podium. Dhanraj and I

looked at each other while we are standing in front of the

whole school and trying to controlling our laughs as we

really don‟t had any idea what will happen next, our

school principal did the impossible, he reads the whole

article from the newspaper‟ amar ujala‟ loudly in front of

the whole school and warns us not to repeat this foolish

kind of thing in the future.

By doing this he lets the whole school knows what

we did, although we both{ dhanraj and i} were not

feeling any shame or anything like this but I was really

concerned about what effect it will be have on

kavya{even though I knew she doesn‟t seem to care

enough}.

Something even more unimaginable happens after

two days when “times of India “ publishes an interview

of aamir khan and there he appeals to the youth

especially taking dhanraj and my name not to perform

these stunts out there.

All these hysteria did two things for me, firstly I

will now never forget the date of purchasing of my first

bike and secondly this incidence makes me famed not

only in school but in the whole haldwani also.

(3) “Everyone has to complete their all work and should

submit their copies next Monday, those who fails to do it

should bring their parents” leela madam our class

teacher said this thing loud and clear to the whole class.

Forget about English copy I was not even having

any copy as since class 8th I used to do all my subjects

in one single notebook which we student generally

called “rough copy”, although even after listening the so

called warning from the most fearful teacher of our

school it did not affects me much .

I was cool and was continuing my day dreaming

about kavya and not to miss the constant gazing of her,

by that time I already started following kavya on my

bike when she rides bicycle back to her home after

school over‟s, Due to her bicycle I had to drive my bike

very slow but it hardly matters for me and even for my

childhood friend prashant who had joins our school this

year.

The constant rides to her locality helps me to

connect with different peoples of my age group only

who lives nearby to her place, due to the information

provided by them I was able to find her math‟s tuition

place and also the timings.

I can say it proudly that it becomes my daily ritual

to drop kavya home after school by following her and

also to drop her home from tuition again by following

her. I always follows her from a distance but it was not

like that she don‟t knew about this, she knew as she saw

me every day but she never said anything and even never

ever gave any weird look.

After the deadline given by leela madam, next day

one relative of our school principal died and due to this

he announced one day of school holiday, I don‟t know

how at that day I came early to the school and like most

of the students got to know about the holiday only after

reaching school, the news makes me sad, not of the

demise but the news of the holiday. One thought

suddenly crops up in my mind, “sit fast” I asked to

prashant and then quickly rides my bike towards the

direction of kavya‟s house, I knew for sure that like

others she also doesn‟t have a clue about the holiday and

I really wanted to pass this information to her.

„This will be the only chance to have a talk with

her‟ I said it to myself and luckily I saw her coming

outside from her house, she was looking lovely like

always.

“Hey today is a holiday, principle relative was

dead, school will reopen tomorrow” I was practicing

these lines while driving and when her bicycle came

close I could not able to utter a single word and crossed

her without even looking at her, „I am a man, let say this

thing, it‟s not a big deal, I am only helping her, it will

save her time „ I motivated myself with these thoughts

and turns my bike with full confidence, “its holiday

today” I said to her {not even the C of confidence was

there though} she somehow listen and looks at me but

was continuously paddling her bicycle, “its holiday

today, believe me, someone died in principle sir house” I

said it one more time by turning my bike speed to almost

nil.

This time she pretends like she did not listen

anything and again did not stops{ I was much louder

than the first time though} then she saw some other

students who were returning from school and only after

confirming from them she changes her route to her

house.

“This is life, I said twice but she did not believe and

other one just said once and she happily believes” I said

to prashant who was sitting behind me, Prashant even

though understood my feelings but still abuses me and

asked me to go fast, while driving way back to the house

I was feeling very happy, I thought whether she believes

me or not but still I was able to talk to her today, even

though it was only I who talk and just two sentence only

but somehow I was regarding it as a big achievement.

It‟s been after two months that I was able to open

my mouth and most importantly she listens to me even

after knowing that I like‟s her, and she not even scolded

or abuses me. This small incident gave me lots of boost

and confidence. “True love will eventually win “I said

this to prahsant who as expected started abusing again. I

did not hear what prahsant says because I was happy and

was loudly singing a song while driving “nahin ye ho

nahi sakta ki teri yaad na aaye, tujhe bhulne se pehle meri

jaan nikal jaye”

“Only five days are remaining, complete your work

or else face the music” leela madam warns the whole

class again and I habitually was deaf to her and her

warnings. After the school I as usual following her when

suddenly out of the blue I put my bike adjacent to her

bicycle in less speed and said “will you please give your

English copy to me so I can finish my work also,

otherwise leela madam will make me red and blue”, I

said all this in one flow without any stammering or

shaking, may be the last day credence was the reason but

whatever I was happy to said all this things to her and

not even thinking of a positive response.

I was thinking of not getting any response but what

happens next was surely not less than a miracle, “ok”

she said without any fuss or fuming, her unexpected

reply only boost me up and I asked “when” without

thinking much, “tomorrow” she said slowly but it was

enough for me to break the ice. “Can you bring it in the

evening to the tuition?, I have to come here for some

work” i said innocently as she not knew that I came here

every day even on Sundays,”Ok I try” she mumbles and

started paddling her bicycle fast as her house was

nearby, it was also an indication for me to not to ask or

speak anything more. I turn my bike while grinning from

ear to ear and started singing another song “der se hua

par pyaar to hua re”.

I along with some of my school friends was having

economics tuition with harsh sir at that time, our tuition

timing was from 4:00 clock to 5:00 clock in the evening

and kavya”s tuition timing was from evening 4:30 to

5:30.It literally means that I had only 30 minutes to

cover the distance of 10 kilometres to reach kavya‟s

place.

I felt that it was my duty to follow her till her

house everyday as I was born to do this only, today is

different though, I just not have to follow her but even

have to ask her for her English copy {even though I

knew even if she will give the copy than also I will not

be able to complete the work}.

“Sit now or I am leaving” I said angrily to prashant

who was intestinally wasting time, “sit or else he might

stop breathing” shubhanshu said loudly, he never leaves

a chance to teases me.

“Go your heroine must be waiting for your arrival”

sandeep alias mamu made a comment in a funny way

and all the friends started laughing, I was irritated by

now and gave a cold look to prahsant which literally

means either sit or be dead and without uttering any

word he sat and I started my bike with a song “aaj unse

pehli mulakat hogi” though practically it was not the
