INDUSTRY PROFILE

India’s most prized resources in today's knowledge economy is its

readily available technical work force. India has the second largest

English speaking professionals in the world, second only to U.S. It is

estimated that India has over 4 million technical workers, over 1,832

educational institutions and polytechnics, which train more 67,785

computer software professionals every year. Government of India is

stepping up the number and quality of training facilities in the country

to capitalize on this extraordinary human resource. It is the knowledge

industry that will help take the Indian economy to a sustained higher

rate of growth and the policy makers are fully aware of this.

The vision of Information Technology (IT) policy is to use IT as a

tool for raising the living standards of the common man and enriching

their lives. In Information technology (IT), India has built up valuable

brand equity in the global markets. In IT-enabled services(ITES),

India has emerged as the most preferred destination for business

process outsourcing (BPO), a key driver of growth for the software

industry and the service sector.

7

Page 8: Saketha Final Report

IT industry collected nearly 60 percent of its revenues of its revenues

from the private sector in India, the balance came from government

and public sector organizations. Another encouraging trend in

domestic market is that IT is no more restricted to metro cities, as it is

a fast picking up stream in smaller cities as well. With government’s

ambition to launch or consolidate various e-governance projects, the

domestic IT buying is increasing at a faster pace in this domain. And

gaining confidence from the domestic success, most of the companies

in India are moving up the value chain to attract global buyers who

are showing increased interest. A clear manifesting of this comes

from the fact that Indian companies and consortia have bagged high-

value, long-term services contracts. For example, Wipro bagged a

five-year, $300 million order from General Motors; Satyam won a

six-year contract from Nissan. TCS and Tata Tele are moving

aggressively to execute their $250 million outsourcing contract.

Likewise, HCL Technologies signed a co-sourcing deal with DSG

International. Tech Mahindra bagged a $1 billion deal from British

Telecom for five years.

8

Page 9: Saketha Final Report

Initiatives taken by the Government of India for the Growth of

Indian IT industry:

1. Formation of ministry of IT.

2.Established of State Wide Area Network (SWAN) up to the block

level to provide connectivity for e-governance. & to broaden the

internet base.

3.The Department has also set up Community Information

Centers(CICs) in hilly, far-flung areas of the North-East and Jammu

and Kashmir to Facilitate the spread of benefit of information and

communication technology. It is also proposed to set up CICs in other

hilly, far-flung areas of the country like Uttaranchal, Andaman &

Nicobar and Lakshadweep.

4.A number of steps were taken by the government to meet the

challenge of zero duty regimes in 2005 under the Information

Technology Agreement (ITA-1). Tariffs on raw materials, parts, other

inputs and capital goods have been rationalized to make domestic

manufacturing viable and competitive.

9

Page 10: Saketha Final Report

5.Keeping in view that almost two thirds of its population lives in rural villages of India, during the year, the department of Information

Technology has formulated a proposal, as a part of NeGP, to establish

1,00,000 Common Services Centers (CSCs) in rural areas, which will

serve not only as the front-end for most government services, but also

as a means to connect the citizens of rural India to the World Wide

Web. CSC scheme envisages a honeycomb pattern of 6, 00,000

villages of the country i.e. one CSC village surrounded by six

villages. This would imply that each village would have a CSC either

within its area or in the adjoining village. The proposal also entails

facilitating establishment of an additional 10,000 centers in urban

areas without any goverence financial support.

STRATEGIES ADOPTED

The main task in executive training is to sell neon product in and

around Hyderabad city and to make survey on engineering product. I

subdivided my task in the distinct component for better achievement

of my objective. I worked on each components separately to achieve

my targets. Following are the distinct component.

Database building

I have used this strategy for selling e-school management, websites

and even for making survey on our engineering product.

a) School activities.

To sell our school management software I first made root mapping

according to the schools location, after that I prepared myself to

27

Focus strategy

TELE MARKETING

DOOR TO DOOR MARKETINGCATALOG MARKETING

ONLINE MARKETING

Page 28: Saketha Final Report

approach or how to convince the principal or director of the schools

and gave presentation on our product.

b) Survey

To get the required data for making report or survey on engineering

product I have visited various institutions such as APTECH, CMC,

ORBIT who offer projects for engineering student and gave a

questioner to them. I give a questioner even to engineering students to

know their requirements.

c) Root Mapping:

Before going to selected schools I have designed a root map

according to the location of the college and the companies.

d) Direct visit:

I initially selected an area of visit the schools and corporate.

e) Internet Browsing:

I have collected the list of schools through internet browsing.

f) Tele-Marketing:

I made cold calling to various educational institutions for selling our

28

Page 29: Saketha Final Report

product and even made calls to companies our designing websites.

g) Mail-Marketing:

After direct visit, we tried to get E-mail ID of the concern person in

the company and mail them details and information about our

product.

29

Page 30: Saketha Final Report

PLANS DEVICED

Right from the beginning we adhered to the to the schedules as assigned by our faculty guide and company guide.

We implemented the action plan as suggested by our guest Mr.Kalyan from IDETITI SOLUTIONS who took a session for us on Saturday.

Every week we changed as action plan as per the requirements. We had frequent revisions and corrections too.

30

Page 31: Saketha Final Report

31

Page 32: Saketha Final Report

RESOURCES UTILIZED

The resources we employed in order to achieve our targets are:

IT RESOURCES: We used the net especially Google to gather the database of the schools present in secunderabad-Hyderabad region. We also used internet services to gather the information regarding the in-house documentation.

HUMAN RESOURCES: We took suggestions & inputs frequently from our MD sir & HR manager which paved an easy way for implementing our action plans.

As we are working for Neon e-school management product we had to collect database of different schools which are situated in and around Hyderabad.

Secondary Data: It is the data that already exists which has been collected from some other person or organization for their use and is generally made available to others at a concessional rate.Sources of secondary data include:-websites-journals-books-trade associations-reports-directories

32

Page 33: Saketha Final Report

ANALYSIS OF PERFORMANCE VS. REASONS FOR VARIANCE

There are no short cuts to achieve success, our internship proven that thing. Glimpse of my achievements in Internship program:

My achievement was 74,800 out 80,000 target which was given to me.

Got the corporative honor from the company. Got Pre Placement Offer from the company.

Detailed achievements in the span of our months:

We convinced about 7 schools to be our product and names of those schools are:

Genius Grammar High School, Amberpet. Little Flower High School, Uppal. N.S.Grammer High School, Uppal. Aurobindo International High School, Nallakunta. S.V.Junior College, Ramanthapur. Manasa Gangothri Junior College, Uppal. Raghava Talent School, Kukatpally.

And we have convinced 3companies for designing their website and names of those companies are:

Deccan Infrastructures Ltd. Rahul Sai Placement Service Srinivasa Diesel Pvt.Ltd

We succeeded in setting up a marketing team in our company for the first time and saved lot of money.

33

Page 34: Saketha Final Report

We prepared PowerPoint presentation for the following:

Engineering Product School Management Software Product Development

We also participated actively in idea generation process and developing all this products and presented to the technical team.

We achieved in gathering good market knowledge, hands on work experience, improving managerial capabilities in terms of presentation skills and communication skills etc.

We succeeded in preparing the in house documentation related to engineering project survey.

34

Page 35: Saketha Final Report

The target which was given to us individual was 80,000 individually and I have achieved 74,000 i.e.; 93.5% of the target which was given to me. The variance in the target given to me was 6,500 i.e.; 3.5% of the target. The reasons for the variance were given the following page.

TARGET

AchievementVariance

35

Page 36: Saketha Final Report

REASONS FOR VARIANCE

We faced many constrains in achieving our target.

TIME CONSTRAIN

As this is the vacation time for schools most of the schools were closed and most of the school principals were not available. Few of them were busy with admission process. Some schools were working till noon because of which we could cover 2-3 schools per day. The distance between schools also acted as a hurdle for our achievement.

TIME CONSUMING PROCESS AND COST EFFECTIVE

As the product as expensive and also involves the change of entire school management system, the process is time consuming for the decision to be taken. For installing our school management software it takes 15-20 days which is again time consuming process.

36

Page 37: Saketha Final Report

37

LIMITATIONS

Page 38: Saketha Final Report

LEARNING WITH EXECUTIVE TRAINING

5. I learned how to complete the deal with customers and make them loyal to the company.

6. I gained knowledge about the company and its competitors.

7. By joining the company I came to know about the industry and the working strategies.

8. I learnt how to utilize our interpersonal skills and maintain social relations with the customers for the benefit of the future.

9. I learnt how to take out references from the customers.

10. I lost shyness to approach a person. Now I got the confidence to approach the customers and got the confidence that I can convince them.

38

Page 39: Saketha Final Report

AWARDS AND REWARDS

Some of the Appreciations which I have got are as follows:

39

Page 40: Saketha Final Report

CONCLUSION

The executive training has proved to be quite useful for us in understanding the real corporate world.

We got to know about the current market situation in a much better way.

The actual processes that take place in a company were known to us i.e.,we could know about the work done by different departments in an organization.

We had an opportunity to implement some marketing strategies which we studied in our theory classes. For ex: we could implement door to door marketing, telemarketing, catalog marketing, online marketing e.t.c.,by which we could bring an awareness of our product.

We also made use of some of the business research methods .For ex: collection of secondary data e.t.c.,

As our main motto was to go to different schools and give presentations about our product,we could improve upon certain skills such as presentation skills, communication skills e.t.c.,

40

Page 41: Saketha Final Report

We gathered the feedback from our clients which we used to improvise our product according to our customer requirements to make it more innovative & useful for them.

The training given by our faculty guide-Mrs. G. karuna was very useful in revising & correcting our plans.

The inputs given by guest lectures during Saturday sessions have proved to be very useful in preparing an action plan to reach our targets. Especially the action plan given by Mr. Kalyan from IDENTITI SOLUTIONS was implementable for our product.
