Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord, Over the next several weeks, when passing our church, you may notice activity at our church that seems unusual. This will be due to First Communion and Confirmation celebrations that will be publicized only to the families of those making sacraments in an effort to comply with COVID Regulations. Needless to say the celebrations will be limited to those immediately involved. Congratulations to all those moving forward in their faith lives. May the dear Lord bless all our young people who are taking steps closer to Our Lord and the life of His Church through these sacraments of initiation. As noted in prior weeks, this Sunday afternoon SSPJ will fete Fr. Quan, and Deacons Frank and Chuck, at the 5:30 PM Mass with a small reception to follow, for those who have replied to the invitations sent to all our homes some weeks ago. Due to this event the driveway between our school buildings and Rt. 30 will be closed to traffic to accommodate the outdoor reception Sunday afternoon. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. We are grateful to Fr. Quan and Deacons Frank and Chuck for their years of service to our Faith community. As you know Fr. Quan now serves at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Morton, Pa, Deacon Frank and his wife Mary Kay remain in our parish, while Deacon Frank has gradually retired from public ministry some time ago, and Deacon Chuck and his wife Judy are soon to relocate in Bucks County, PA. SSPJ will always be grateful to these faithful servants of the Lord and His people. We are grateful to Our Business Manager, Mike McCafferty, our Knights of Columbus, and everyone who has helped in anyway with the celebration on September 13. +jcd

Music and Scripture Readings for Ss. Philip and James Masses Thank you to all of you who have been wearing face coverings and social distancing while in church. It is very important that we provide an opportunity for our parishioners to attend Holy Mass in person, but we must do this with the utmost care for all in attendance. As you are aware, we cannot have our Jour-ney Songs Hymnals in the pews at the current time; therefore, no usual access to our hymns and Scripture Readings. Due to the updates and directives from the CDC and guidelines from the Archdiocese during the current global pandemic, we will be discontinuing music at all Masses beginning in August until further notice. For those of you who would like to see and personally read the Scripture Readings for Sundays and each day, they are noted on our Parish Website under Today’s Read-ings. May God continue to bless you and your families as we pray for one another for an end to this Covid-19 Coronavirus.
Office for Life and Family The Annual Archdiocesan Wedding Anniversary Mass has been scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 5:15 PM at the Cathedral Basilica of SS Peter and Paul, Philadelphia. Archbishop Nelson Perez will be the principal celebrant and homilist. This Mass will be celebrating, in particular, those couples marking their 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 year wedding anniversary milestones. Friends and Family are welcome and encouraged to attend. To RSVP go to www,phillycahtoliclife.org or call the Office for Life and Fmaily at 215-5897-0500. Spiritual Adoption Program. What is the Spiritual Adoption Program? It is very simples, Participants in the Spiritual Adoption Program promises to pray for nine months for a baby in danger of abortion. While this child will remain unknown to his or her “spiritual parent”, God knows who the child is. Many people have found that naming “their child” helps to keep them focused on the reality that their prayers are helping to save a particular baby from the harm of abortion. This can be done in a parish or school setting, with age appropriate materials. To learn more visit www.spiritualadoption.org.
