Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord,
For Archbishop-Designate Nelson Perez, as we prepare to receive him as our new shepherd in
Christ, that he will know the Lord’s grace and strength to preach the truth of the Gospel and to
build up the Body of Christ among us. Let us pray to the Lord. The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, February 2 was also known as The Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary and also Candlemas Day due to candles being blessed on this occasion. Throats will be blessed at all Masses this weekend in honor of St. Blaise whose feast is Monday February 3. As you know Lent is around the corner. This year in addition to our two daily Masses and Stations of the Cross we will have a Solemn Novena to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal leading up to and including the Solemnity of the Annunciation of Our Lord, March 25, nine months prior to Christmas. Father Michael Callahan, Director of the National Shrine of the Miraculous Medal, in Germantown section of Philadelphia, will be with us and preach each of these days. The Novena Prayers will be prayed at the 8:30 morning Mass, all of the weekend Masses, and again at a special evening Mass each day at 7 PM including Saturday and Sunday. Plan to be part of this wonderful opportunity to honor our Blessed Mother and her gift of the Miraculous Medal and pray for your special intentions during this opportunity of grace. I am also delighted that the Shepherds of the Holy Land will be with us during the Novena with their wonderful olive wood devotional items from the Holy Lands. The interest in these was sensational at the time of their last visit with us. Plan to keep March 17 to the 25 marked in your calendars so as to not miss this Spiritual opportunity. +jcd
