Did you know: The Nicene-Constantinopolitan symbol is a symbol of faith, a dogmatic declaration of the contents of the Christian faith, promulgated at the Council of Nicaea I (325) and extended at the Council of Con-stantinople (381). The objective of the Nicene Creed was to agree on a definition of the dogmas of the Christian faith, until then not accepted by the lack of institutionalization and strong regional vari-ations. The main adversary of the Nicene doctrine was Arianism, a theological current led by the North African priest Arius, who refused to accept that Jesus Christ was God himself (concept of Trini-ty) as the theologian Athanasius proposed at the Council of Nicaea I. Other theological problems, especially Trinitarian ones, would not be resolved until the First Council of Constantinople, when the divine character of the Holy Spirit was definitively affirmed. The Nicene-Constantinopolitan creed, a symbol of faith, is accepted by the Catholic Church, the Byzan-tine Orthodox Churches, the Eastern Orthodox Churches, the Eastern Church, the Anglican Church. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
