Educational News...
...from the School Dear Parishioners, I’m beginning to prepare for my summer travels, but before I go I want everyone to know I’ll be in contact with school every day. Vacation is not about forgetting about work, but about recharging the batteries, so work can be improved upon when I return. Vacation is about sharing experiences on the road to enrich the classroom and to bring back a sense of wonder and appreciation for all the new things I’ve experienced. As much as I enjoy my time away, I enjoy returning just as much because I get to see again the friendly faces of my friends of SKS and experience the comforts of home.
SKS is the Foundation for an Extraordinary Future.
Tony Simone, Principal
...from the Religious Education Office Dear Friends, A few weeks ago, on Pentecost Sunday, Deacon Emil Vasek delivered a sermon in honor of the birth of the Church. He said we spend plenty of time talking about what is wrong with the Church, but hardly ever speak about what is right with the Church. This struck a chord with me, and I felt like clapping at the end of the sermon. How many of us have stood dumbstruck when a disparaging comment was made about the Catholic Church…often by a Catholic? We will verbally defend our parents, siblings, children, alma maters, even pets…yet we stand silent when we should defend our Church. Is it because we don’t know what is right about the Church? The Catholic Church was instituted by Jesus Christ and has enjoyed an unbroken line of succession from St. Peter, our first Pope, until the present Pope, Benedict XVI. To paraphrase from a “Catholics Come Home” video, the Catholic Church:
has over 1 billion members is guided by scripture and tradition compiled the Bible developed the scientific method founded the college system defends the dignity of all human life upholds family and marriage runs hospitals and orphanages educates more children than any other scholarly or religious institution is the largest charitable organization on the planet
These are feats in which all Catholics should take pride. Teri Klopp
OFFICE HOURS: The Religious Education Office is open Monday thru Thursday from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. when R.E. is scheduled. To avoid any inconvenience to you, it’s always a good idea to call before you visit...especially over the summer!
To the parishioners of St. Kieran Parish,
Thank you. This is why we want to thank you for the generous gift of $725.00. Your commitment to helping our community is appreciated by those who help them and, most importantly, by those who benefit from our services.
Many thanks from your parishioners’ personal commitment to help Our Lady of Tepeyac Parish for Building repairs, Heat, Energy, and Building Expenses, Confirmation Retreat, Window Repair…
Your Parishioners; and your personal commitment is incredibly helpful and will and has allowed us to reach our goals. Your assistance means so much to me but even more to Our Lady of Tepeyac Parish community. Thank you from all of us and God bless you and your Parish community. I assure you that you and your parishioners will be in our Sunday mass prayers.
With sincere affection and in the service of God, Rev. Rigoberto Gamez, JCD Pastor of Our Lady of Tepeyac Parish
