Dear Parishioners, In this parable Jesus compares himself to the Shepherd and to the Gate. The first title represents His ownership because the Shepherd is the true owner of the sheep. The second title represents His leadership. Jesus is the Gate, the only Way. He is the One Mediator between God and mankind. All must go through Him, through His Church, in order to arrive in Heaven. By identifying Himself with the sheep-gate, Jesus gives the assurance that whoever enters the pen through Him will be safe and well cared-for. Jesus is the living Door to His Father’s house and Father’s family, the Door into the Father’s safety and into the fullness of life. It is through Jesus, the Door, that we come into the sheepfold where we are protected from the wolves of life. There is safety in numbers and security in being a Catholic. There is a spiritual, emotional and psychological security and safety when we live within Jesus and His Church. If you have been away from the fold for some time (Mass and Confession) I encourage you to return home to Jesus, the Good Shepherd. Yours in Christ, Rev.. Anthony Giamello Pastor St. John the Apostle/St. Bernadette

Our season of Religious Education is coming to an end for the year. We will have class on April 29 and May 6th. However this does not mark the end to our Chris-tian learning. We as adults must continue to share with our young people has we enter into the summer months. We are witnesses to the faith and the young people are watching. Are we still attending mass? Do we use the gift of the sacrament of reconciliation? Do we open the bible, read a good Christian book and share? We will see active involvement of our youth, if we adults are active. Yes, it is a busy time but who can forget what God does for us every day, what Jesus did for us those thousands of years ago and what Mary did by saying “yes”. It is not easy but we need this entire village to help raise the young people. We will have a Vacation Bible School in July and we are looking for help. It will be July 15-18 from 6-8 in the evening. We need crafters, singers, drama helpers and much, much more. Help us with this ministry to our young. Remember Confirmation May 12, at Holy Cross and First Communion May 20, at St. Bernadette, 9AM.
