Images of death and life abound. Having come this far in Lent, are you ready to die to your old ways and embrace new life? May that be our prayer, both for ourselves and for all who are preparing for Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist this Easter. Readings for this Week (April 3--8) MONDAY: Daniel 13:41c-62; John 8:1-11 TUESDAY: Numbers 21:4-9; John 8:21-30 WEDNEDAY: Dn. 3:14-20, 91-92, 95; John 8:31-42 THURSDAY: Genesis 17:3-9; John 8:51-59 FRIDAY: Jeremiah 20:10-13; John 10:31-42 SATURDAY: Ezekiel 37:21-28; John 11:45-56 Scripture for next Sunday (Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion) Isaiah 50:4-7 The Suffering Servant speaks to the weary. Philippians 2:6-11 Jesus emptied himself, and accepted death on a cross. Matthew 26:14—27:66 They came to a place called Golgotha and crucified Jesus there. The glorious entrance into Jerusalem that we will experience in our procession next Sunday finds an echo in the centurion’s word near the end of the Passion that will be proclaimed: “Truly, this was the Son of God!” In between, we will hear Isaiah’s prophetic description of the Suffering Servant, Saint Paul’s great hymn of praise, and the dramatic unfolding of the Passion. Let us take time to absorb it all, reflecting on the great love of God for us. It is an opportunity for you to make a difference in the lives of those in need right here in our diocese—right here in Southwest Virginia! This is also a great opportunity for you to fulfill community service hours that you may need for high school programs. Early Bird Registration now open thru April 17 Early Bird Registration is $325!
