Please pray for our deceased parishioners

Item 1 It is my bittersweet duty as Pastor to bid a very fond farewell to our seminarian, CALLISTUS IBEH who ends his summer internship today. It has been a pleasure to have him assist me and Fr. Alex and to share our lives with him in the rectory. I am sure that all of you join me in thanking him for his service and in wishing him all the best as he continues following his vocation to the priesthood. Callistus, we thank you and assure you of our prayers! You will always have a home here at Sacred Heart of Jesus, Bayside! Please come to visit us! Please remember us in your prayers! Go with God!
Item 2 St. Joseph’s Seminary, Yonkers, is celebrating its 125th Anniversary this year. The seminary is having a $100 raffle for a 2022 TOYOTA RAV4 XLE or $20,000 CASH PRIZE. There is an insert in the bulletin if you are interested in purchasing a ticket to help support the seminary. (St. Joseph’s Seminary is the Alma Mater of Fr. Alex and is where Callistus is attending seminary.)
Item 3 Please remember that the work of the parish takes place 24 hours a day-7 days a week-365 days a year. Even though you might not be present at a particular Sunday or holy day Mass, or you may be away for the summer the parish depends on your weekly contributions to meet its bills and carry out its mission. Please send in your weekly envelopes or consider signing up for online giving- this takes the burden off you to remember to send in your make up contributions and helps us to better plan our cash flow. Much thanks to those who are faithful in making their contributions even while away! Very much appreciated!

Item 4 As we return to a more normal celebration of the Eucharist on Sundays, we find ourselves in need of more Lectors. Many of our faithful Lectors who have served in this ministry for many years are no longer able to for a variety of reasons. If you are interested in becoming a Lector, please contact Monsignor Machalski.
Item 5 Please join us in Eucharistic Adoration in the church on Thursdays from 1:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M. Thursdays are special days of prayer in thanksgiving for the gift of the Eucharist (prayer especially needed since 70% of those identifying as Catholic do not believe in the Real Presence of Our Lord in the Eucharist) and for praying for an increase of vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life. The Holy Hour consists of Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, praying the Rosary, quiet time for silent prayer and meditation and Benediction. Come, worship the Lord!
Item 6
Pass along the good word about Sacred Heart Catholic Academy. We have room for more students for the Fall! For more information call the Principal, Mrs. Conlan at 718-631-4804.
Item 7
MARK YOUR CALENDAR:
The Bayside St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee has decided that since the 2021 Parade could not be held in March due to COVID restrictions that it will be held on September 18 (which is six months more or less away from March 17) instead. As has become the custom the Parade Mass will be held in our parish at 8:00 A.M. on that day. The parade is scheduled to kick off at 11:00 A.M. More details to follow.
Item 8
ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL 2021--As of July 26, 184 parishioners/individuals have already pledged $107, 100.00 to the 2021 ACA and $95,644.96 has been paid. This means we have fulfilled our assigned goal and all monies now collected come back to the parish. (We still have $11,455.04 in pledged monies to be fulfilled) Our goal was $91,954.00. Many thanks to all for their generosity! I am especially grateful to the family that pledged $30,000.00 and paid this pledge in full. Please prayerfully consider participating in the ACA 2021 if you have not yet done so. Please remember that all monies now collected over goal come back to the parish 100%. The parish really counts on this money that is a result of our going over-goal to help us with some of our larger bills each year, i.e., the Annual Assessment Bill., the Annual Insurance Bill, etc. The money collected for the ACA 2021 is not used for any other purpose other than what is listed in the information brochures, i.e., training of seminarians, support for senior priests, hospital ministry, youth ministry, lay leader formation, etc.
Item 9 PLEASE TAKE NOTE: VERY IMPORTANT
Parish Registration is extremely important. Many people assume because they made some of their sacraments here, they attended school here, or their grandparents live here, or they or their parents married here they are automatically parishioners. That is not the case. You must register to be a parishioner. This becomes particularly important when you need letters from us, i.e., to be a godparent at Baptism or asponsor at Confirmation; those letters mayonly be given to registered parishioners. Please call the rectory for a registrationform and fill one out. At the height of thepandemic, we mailed out over 1,000 letterswith a registration form asking that it befilled out and returned to us and we onlyreceived about a quarter of them back. Please get a census form and fill it outtoday!

Item 10 Many times, when a loved one dies people buy vestments, chalices, pyxes, etc. in their memory. While we are grateful for the gesture, please know that there are only so many that any parish can use and many times, we send them to the missions where they will be used and where the person in whose memory they were donated will be prayed for when the item is used. Presently, we have more than enough chalices and pyxes. I do, however, have a list of other items that we can use or need to be replaced. Please contact me for further information.
Item 11 We are livestreaming all our Sunday Masses (for those of our parishioners who are homebound) and the 9:00 a.m. DAILY MASS. You can access the livestream by going to the webpage https://sacredheartbayside-queens.org and clicking on the “Watch Mass Stream button. Masses will also be available to be viewed on demand approximately a half hour after each Mass is finished. THE MIRACULOUS MEDAL NOVENA ON MONDAYS AFTER THE 9:00 A.M. MASS AND FIRST FRIDAY AND FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTIONS THAT TAKE PLACE AFTER THE 9:00 A.M. MASS ON EACH OF THOSE DAYS ARE ALSO LIVE STREAMED. We are also livestreaming a Holy Hour and Rosary every Thursday from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M.
