NEW TO THE PARISH – WELCOME! We are happy to have you in our community and hope that you will enjoy a truly Christian experience with us. Please call or stop by the rectory to register (518) 274-1363. This helps us for sacraments, sick calls or any other assistance you may need. Thank you!
SCRIPTURE READING REFLECTION
We need to be aware that we live in a cultural/
philosophical atmosphere which believes in
the inevitability of progress, i.e. that each
tomorrow will be an improvement upon
today. History – if we know it – tells us that
is a lie. Moreover, we need to be clear that
technological and material progress is not the
same as human progress. Progress in human
happiness is neither guaranteed nor inevitable.
Today’s first reading reminds us that God’s
people can become so alienated from Him
that dire consequences are the result. We
who think we are Christians, in our day have
tended to overemphasize God’s mercy, while
neglecting His ineffable judgment - the verdict
promised in today’s Gospel. Theologians tell
us that God’s grace is like a door that can be
opened only from the inside. We have to open
it to let Him in. Are we so pre-occupied with
other things in our lives that we don’t hear His
knock on the door? Consider, for instance how
adverse we are to silence. Our addiction to
constant noise around us can very well make
us deaf to God’s whispers. Lent is not only a
special time for prayer, but a time to improve
our praying.
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME BEGINS THIS SUNDAY,
MARCH 14th.
FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT MARCH 14, 2021
SCHOOL NEWS School Calendar Notes: Monday, March 15th - No School due to a Diocesan Professional Development Day. Wednesday, March 17th - March Madness St. Patrick’s Day winner to be announced and the children dressing in green and white in celebration of the day. Sacred Heart School is Cooking Something Up!: Our Annual Auction has historically been our major fundraiser for the year which contributes necessary monies to our operating budget. Unfortunately, we will be unable to host an in-person event again this year due to Covid directives (masks, social distancing, etc.) as well as the possible constraints of our gracious donors. Soooo… We will be hosting our spring fundraiser: “Rada Cutlery: Sacred Heart School is Cooking Something Up” beginning March 16th and ending April 13th. Rada has wonderful products: cutlery, gift sets, kitchen utensils, marinades, dip mixes, cook books and even bakeware. Whether you’re an avid cook or hate to cook, there are plenty of products to choose from; absolutely something for everyone! Every purchase you make using either or both of the following unique shopping platforms helps our group. *Browse and share the catalog with your family, fr iends and neighbors. Order forms and payment is made through the school office and the purchased items will be delivered to the school at a later date (late April-early May). *Online orders are available through (copy and paste the following link in your internet browser): https://radafundraising.com/?rfsn=5400085.048bda. Online orders are delivered directly to the purchaser’s home right after the sale.
** Please feel free to contact Karen Snyder in the school office for additional information.
2021-2022 Registration: Registration for our UPK 3 year old, UPK 4 year old, Early Childhood 3-4 year old and grades K-6 continues. Information and registration packets are available in the school office (518-274-3655). Our traditional Open Houses and school tours have been suspended due to the Covid guidelines and we are creatively exploring working on addressing this in a unique way. We are always available for answering any questions that parents may have via email ([email protected]) or the phone (518-274-3655). Wonderful things that are happening here in your school!
