Sacred Heart Catholic Church The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph–December 30, 2018 Reflection from the Pastor: During the holidays (holy days!), we may spend a lot of time with people that we are supposed to love, but don’t normally see. When we get back together, it’s like we are opening back up the parenthesis of our lives and resuming where we left off since the last gathering. It’s easy to let our minds and hearts wander back to past hurts, to give each other the silent treatment, to divide off into our respective camps, complaining about each other. Don’t give in! Rather, be holy! Move beyond hurt to forgiveness and don’t let the devil reign over your interior life. The Feast of the Holy Family reminds us that Jesus was born into a family, and all that entails. He had relatives who didn’t understand him, who even rejected him and called him names. But he was holy, and he loved. Let’s do the same! Fr. Sacred Heart Catholic Church The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph–December 30, 2018
Reflection from the Pastor:
During the holidays (holy days!), we may spend a lot of time with people
that we are supposed to love, but don’t normally see. When we get back
together, it’s like we are opening back up the parenthesis of our lives and
resuming where we left off since the last
gathering. It’s easy to let our minds and hearts
wander back to past hurts, to give each other
the silent treatment, to divide off into our
respective camps, complaining about each
other. Don’t give in! Rather, be holy! Move
beyond hurt to forgiveness and don’t let the
devil reign over your interior life. The Feast of the Holy Family reminds us
that Jesus was born into a family, and all that entails. He had relatives who
didn’t understand him, who even rejected him and called him names. But
he was holy, and he loved. Let’s do the same!
