WORSHIP

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today, the Church celebrates Gaudete Sunday. Gaudete means, rejoice. Advent is a penitential time in the Church. Gaudete Sunday reminds us of the gift that our joyful hope of anticipation is pointing to, and that is the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Despite some of the challenges we face due to COVID, I believe that we have many things to still be thankful for, in particular for the gift of faith which opens our hearts and minds to the love of God. May our circumstances not dictate the level of praise we give to God. And let us give thanks to the Lord for all the blessings he gives us and the challenges He bestows upon us. These challenges put our faith to the test and shape our character. May we strive to reshape our character centered on Godly values as we ponder the coming of Christ in the manger at Bethlehem.

While we strive to maintain a certain degree of normalcy around here, I would like to point out that our Christmas Masses are 3pm, 4:30pm, 6pm, 8pm (Spanish) and 10pm and 10am. There are roughly 840 seats available for Christmas Masses. Please plan out which Mass you would like to attend and sign up. We just need to be mindful of capacities in the Church in our planning The 3pm and 4:30pm Masses will air on Facebook and we will use a transmitter for the option to listen to the Mass in your car. Despite these challenging times, I am looking forward to worshipping with you always. Stay healthy and safe, and know we are lifting you up every day in prayer. God Bless you and your families. Sincerely Yours, Fr. David Aufiero

Christmas Eve Masses are at 3:00p.m., 4:30p.m., 6:00p.m., and 10:00p.m. 8:00p.m. is the Spanish Mass; and Christmas Day Mass is at 10:00a.m.

We will still be social distancing in accordance with diocesan and state regulations at that time. Attendance is on a first come, first serve basis, and we are taking reservations at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/holynamechristmas. If you have no computer access, call the office at 733-5823. We need an individual name, the number of family members you are reserving for, your phone number (and preferably a home or work email) to sign you up. Also, the 3:00p.m. and 4:30p.m. Masses will be streamed on Facebook (more details to follow). A third option is listening to Mass from your car by tuning into the radio station 106 FM. Communion will be given out to those in cars at the end of Mass.

During Advent we will have confessions after the 8:15a.m. Mass Monday through Friday. Holy hour and confessions will be on Wednesday nights from 7-8p.m.

CURRENT MASS ATTENDENCE SAFETY GUIDELINES

(Continued on next page)

Page 5: SACRAMENTS AT HOLY NAME · religious life you are invited to contact Fr. David Aufi ero at the rectory or the Diocesan Vocations Director at 452-0816. August 2, 2020 Parish Mission

These guidelines are currently in place in cooperation with the governor and the Diocese.

Entrances will be by the Social Center and School. The doors will remain open. The Entrances by the Cry Room and Dickinson St. Entrance will be locked. Ushers will be at the entrance.

Church Capacity with social distancing is 138 Masks will be required as you enter the Church Social distancing (6ft minimum) to be abided by at all times The Holy Water Fonts will remain empty. There will be Hand Sanitizer in a spray bottle in Each of the

Holy water fonts. Every other pew will be blocked off with tape. Please sit in a seat that is open. Each seat is 6ft apart and

marked with an X. The Cry room will not be used for seating, only confession. Bathrooms are to be used for emergency use only. Please use the bathroom by the Dickinson St. Entrance. All other activities besides Mass are still suspended until further notice.

The Sacristy The Sacristy will only be used for the Priest and Deacon to prepare for Mass. As we start at Mass, Sacristans, Eucharistic ministers and altar servers will not be used. This is to limit the number of things we touch.

Lectors can practice the readings at the pulpit in the Church. There will be copies of readings on the pulpit for Mass. The locks on the doors were changed to the sacristy to enforce this change and they will remain closed during and between Masses.

The Collection

Your contributions can be dropped off in the box next to the altar.

Communion

We will omit the sign of peace, No communion by the cup, and Communion will be distributed in the hand, and now also on the tongue.

Only the priest and deacons wearing a mask will distribute communion at the end of mass. After the final blessing, the priest will hold up the Eucharist and say “the body of Christ” and the crowd will respond by saying “amen.”

Then will proceed to distribute communion without saying anything. Immediately after receiving communion, exit the Church. The Priest and Deacon will distribute communion at each section and will guide you on where to exit. They will use hand sanitizer in case they come into contact with anyone.

Disinfection

After Mass, pews and bathroom will be disinfected. Please leave your kneelers down. This will indicate this pew is the one that needs to be disinfected.

Daily Mass

Daily Mass will resume at the regular time following the same protocols above, except that communion will be distributed at the usual time during mass. Please sit in the section by the Dickinson St. entrance. This will help us with disinfection.

Tuesdays, 1:00-5:00p.m.Please sit in the section by the Dickinson St. entrance. This will help us with disinfection. Entrance will be by the Social Center. Please exit by the Holy Name School, to allow for a one-way traffic flow.

Leaving the Church after Mass

Please go directly to your car. Everyone is asked not to congregate outside the church to chat as before. You are welcomed to talk at your cars if you are safely distanced and have your mask on.

Let’s work together and worship well, while keeping everyone safe. It will be a little different but we can adjust. Thanks for your understanding. Have a great week, and God bless.
