President’s MessageThe Rotary Club of North Sydney has been a part of the Northside Community for over 80 years. Our mandate continues to be the youth with our projects including helping children with special needs, mentoring youth through Interact at Memorial High School, funding for youth groups, sport teams and scholarships to name a few.
A special project this year was to be part of the Mitch Dorge presentation to the schools on Cape Breton Island. Mitch’s presentation is focused on making responsible choices. We were able, with the help of Coop-erators Insurance and the other Rotary Clubs of Cape Breton Island, to bring this presentation to over 7700 students.
This is our 10th edition of the Business Directory and we are grateful for the support of our business community in making this another great year. A special thank you to our 10 year businesses for their continued support. Together we are making changes for our community, both local and international ,that inspire us to want the best for all.

Our CoverWe, the Rotary Club of North Sydney, wish to feature some of our advertis-ers on the front cover of our annual edition of the Northside Business Directory, and would like to continue to do so in the years to come. These great people are an example of the community minded individuals that we have had the pleasure to photograph and publish this year.
It is the ongoing support of people such as these that help Rotary Clubs around the world make miracles happen for those in our own backyard, as well as for those across the globe. The next time you encounter a person or business featured in this directory, congratulate them for the contribution they have made towards enriching the lives of those less fortunate. We ask that you continue to support all of our advertisers as they strive to make our community grow stronger and better with each passing year. Many heartfelt thanks to all of our contributors in making this edition a success.

Rotary Club of North Sydney - Year in Review
The North Sydney Rotary Club of North Sydney, founded in 1938, remains strong and active in the local Northside communities. The longevity of the club is due to resilient members and the outstanding success of the club’s fundraisers: Pay 2 Play, our annual Poinsettia Sale, and the Rotary Club of North Sydney’s Northside Business Directory. All funds raised from these projects go back into the Northside communities and worthy international projects.
Rotary believes that it is vitally important that our youth be provided with the necessary tools to become leaders in our communities and the world. During the 2017/2018 year, the North Sydney Rotary Club has made the following donations:
• $1,000 - In meeting the needs of local families that have children with special needs (ie. wheelchairs, chair lifts, hearing devices, computers, transportation for medical purposes, braces, etc.)
• $3,250 - Three scholarships to graduating students at Memorial High School
• $5,000 - Youth programs such as Adventures in Citizenship, Encounters with Canada, Northside and area Minor Baseball, Hurricanes Middle School Basketball Program
One of the four avenues of service for each Rotary Club is that of Community Service. The Rotary Club of North Sydney, over the past year has made the following commitments:
• 5,500 - Northside area foodbanks
• $500 - Northside Community Pool
In recognition that we are citizens of the world, the North Sydney Rotary Club recognized several humanitarian initiatives:
• $9,000
• School project in Nigeria
• Guatemala Project – Mechanical cows
• Shelterbox for Disaster relief
Our club members also volunteered our time at
• Annual Community Clean-up
• Ribfest – in support of Hospice
