A MESSAGE FOR YOU

Pg . 3

Lenten Almsgiving for St. Vincent de Paul Society

The Church is ushering us into a wonderful season of repentance. The season of Lent is a time for us to repent and believe in the Gospel. The Church invites us to prepare ourselves within these forty days of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, just as Jesus did. Pope Francis on his Ash Wednesday homily (2015) called us Christians to use these three elements that the Gospel recommends for our spiritual growth. We pray for the forgiveness of sins and for the grace not to fall into temptation and because prayer reunites us with God. We fast from worldly pleasure in order to mortify our bodies and strengthen the Spirit to be stronger in prayer. But our fast should be for the benefit of the poor through the sacrifices, almsgiving and charity we do. Pope Francis further said, "Fasting makes sense if it really chips away at our security and, as a consequence, benefits someone else, if it helps us cultivate the style of the Samaritan, who bent down to his brother in need and took care of him.” At Christ the King parish, I invite you to direct your Lenten Almsgiving to our St. Vincent de Paul Society. It is my prayer that all of us may find ways to thank God and be of service to our neighbor, especially the poor, both materially and spiritually, in our community as we go through our Lenten journey. God bless, Fr. Rolyn Francisco

High School Multi-Parish Retreat: CONQUER March 2-4 2018

“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be still.” Exodus 14:14

Imagine over 400 teens gathered together in the picturesque mountains of Williams, Arizona, excited about having an encounter with Christ. Some who attend have grown up in the Church, for others this is one of their first experiences of the Church. Regardless of how involved or detached the teens may have been from faith, this retreat has had a life-changing impact on countless teens who attend. Led by 3More worship band, inspired by Catholic speakers, fortified by the sacraments, elevated in prayer and adoration, and with the presence of many priests and our own Bishop Thomas Olmsted, teens walk away from this retreat with great love and zeal for Christ and His Church. Registration has begun, the $150.00 fee includes lodging, bus fare, meals and a t-shirt. Please contact Elisa, Youth Facilitator at 480-844-4476 today to reserve your spot. Limited space is available.

UN MENSAJE PARA USTED

Pg . 7

I see the King of Glory, coming on the clouds with fire, The whole earth shakes, the whole earth shakes. I see His love and mercy, washing over all our sin

The people sing, the people sing

Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest!

I see a generation, rising up to take their place With selfless faith, with selfless faith

I see a near revival, stirring as we pray and seek We’re on our knees, we’re on our knees

Heal my heart and make it clean, Open up my eyes to the things unseen.

Show me how to love like You have loved me. Break my heart for what breaks Yours.

Everything I am for Your kingdom’s cause, as I walk from earth into eternity

Lord Jesus Christ, I firmly believe that you are present in this Blessed Sacrament as true God and true Man, with your Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity. My Redeemer and my Judge,

I adore your Divine Majesty together with the angels and saints. I believe, O Lord; increase my faith.

Jn 3: 16 God so loved the world that he gave his Only Begotten Son, so that all who believe in him may not perish, but may have eternal life.

Healer of my soul, keep me at evening. Keep me at morning, keep me at noon,

Healer of my soul

Keeper of my soul, on rough course faring. Help and safeguard my means this night,

Keeper of my soul.

I am tired astray and stumbling, shield my soul from the snare of sin.

You’re my Prince of Peace and I will live my life for You.

You are holy (echo)… You are mighty…You are worthy… Worthy of praise… I will follow… I will listen… I will love You… All of my days…

Men: I will sing to and worship the King Who is worthy.

I will love Him and adore Him, I will bow down before Him.

I will sing to and worship the King Who is worthy. I will love Him and adore Him, I will bow down before Him.

Women: You are Lord of Lords, You are King of Kings,

You are Mighty God, Lord of everything. You’re Emmanuel, You’re the Great I Am,

You’re my Prince of Peace, Who is the Lamb. You’re the Living God, You’re my Saving Grace, You will reign forever, You are ancient of days.

You are Alpha, Omega, Beginning and End. You are Savior, Messiah, Redeemer and Friend.

Miracle of grace, mystery of faith, calling us to venture to the deep.

Though our senses fail, Your graces still prevail, and we become the love that we receive.

Bread of life, Bread of life. Those who eat this bread shall live and never die.

Bread of life, Bread of life. Your true presence in this holy sacrifice.

Bread of life.

Unworthy though we are, You feed the hungry heart with bread come down from heaven above.

And like a grain of wheat, we fall down at Your feet, dying here with You. Oh, let us rise!

Your faithfulness revealed in this covenant You’ve sealed with Your very body and Your blood.

Come, claim your bride again with love that cannot end, for what God joins no one can divide.
