ABOUT LORI WHITLOCKHi everyone!! I’m Lori Whitlock. I’d like to tell you a little about my childhood and what lead me to working with Riley Blake.
I had an interesting childhood as I spent every summer on a family farm in the middle of South Dakota and I spent every fall/winter/spring near Dallas, Texas. Summertime was filled with hard work on our wheat farm. I drove tractors, combines, and grain trucks for my father. My mother taught me how to cook, cross-stitch, and sew. Needless to say, I learned how to work hard and developed a LOVE for creating things.
When I was about 6 years old, my dad bought one of the first Apple computers and brought it home. I was completely hooked!! Of course the only thing I could really do with that computer is play “Pong” and “Lemonade Stand.” But, I knew that computers were amazing and I wanted more. During my high school years, while learning about different career options, I heard about graphic design. I felt this was a perfect career for me because it merged my love for art and computers (and bonus, I could get paid for it)! When I discovered this, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
I attended BYU and received my degree in graphic design. While there I met and married my sweetheart, Doug Whitlock. I spent several years developing my skills by designing catalogs, books, newsletters, logos, brochures, packaging and much more at a well known design firm in Northern Utah.

About ten years ago, when my third baby was born, I knew that I needed to be home to care of our children so I quit my job and started my own design studio in our basement. Even though that was a scary step, it ended up leading me to the funnest part of my career and has been a great blessing to our family.
Through a series of amazing opportunities, I started designing art for the scrapbooking and crafting industry working with CK Media, Becky Higgins, Lisa Bearnson, Crate Paper, Silhouette, Echo Park Paper, Riley Blake and more.
You can currently find my artwork on many crafting products. In addition to my fabric for Riley Blake Designs, you’ll find coordinating papers through Echo Park Paper Company, Project Life designs through Becky Higgins, digital scrapbooking supplies at JessicaSprague.com, manual cut and embossing dies through Sizzix, and digital cutting files through Silhouette America.
I am so very thankful for parents that took the time to teach me how to work hard and instill the love of being creative in me. I feel blessed beyond measure to be working from home doing something that I thoroughly enjoy. I encourage others to reach for the stars, set goals and go after their dreams. You only live once so you may as well go for it!
I love spending time with my husband and three children. We enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, running, going up the mountains on 4-wheelers, etc. We raise chickens and have an orchard of fruit trees. We grow a huge garden in the summer. At the end of the summer you can find my family and I putting up tomatoes, peaches, corn, and green beans. I love to bake bread and I enjoy healthy living, quilting, sewing, photography, and scrapbooking and so much more. And, just like most everyone else, I could really use a few extra hours every single day in order to fit it all in. Life is good!

19th Century ShirtingsShirtings are simple small patterns on a white or off white ground. These basic prints are used in quilting as an accent or neutral piece when partnered with darker prints. You will find shirt-ings in almost all antique quilts and reproduc-tion quilting projects.
During the 19th Century patchworking became popular because it was practical. Clothing and other inexpensive material were available and readily recycled into quilts. The original shirt-ings used in quilting were taken from men’s shirts and later taken from women’s blouses and dresses.
Hope Chest 1930’s The bright and colorful designs of the 1930’s era are one of the most popular genres of quilting fabrics. The color, diversity of design, and size allows for many uses including quilting, home decor and gar-ments.
During the Great Depression of the 1930’s there was a great revival of Quilting. The hard times brought a strong desire for women to socialize. Quilting be-came a popular way for women to fulfill their desire to be creative while still making something practical for her family. To keep expenses to a minimum, wom-en would find quilting materials from many different sources such as sewing scraps, out-grown clothing and feed sacks.
Enjoy these happy bright colors and designs that bring a little remembrance of an era that looked for-ward to better times.

About Adrienne:From a very young age I loved to create. As a child I helped my mother make and sell porcelain dolls. At the age of 7 I learned very quickly how to pour and clean green ware, sewed the bodies, and help make dresses. With a talented mother around it
was very easy to learn the skills needed to help her.
So here we are 20 years later. Married with children of my own. I picked sewing back up as a way to be creative and make gifts for friends and family. In
2008, I was pregnant with my first daughter. I wanted adorable baby items that no one else had. So I started making my own. Car seat cover, nursing cover, blankets, and bedding. A local shop owner saw my items and wanted the patterns and Cosette’s Closet was born.
I have a nak for mixing fabrics and love designing modest, comfortable clothing for Children. I enjoy taking a simple idea and making it my own.
Aside from Pattern designing and sewing, I am the mother of 4 adorable kids living in Idaho Falls. I spend my free time creating yummy food in the kitchen, sewing up outfits for the Little Miss and making Digital art. Everything I do I share on my blog www.freetimefrolics.com, where you can enjoy Recipes, Free Printables and tutorials for sewing and crafting. Find me on Social media for my current tutorials and patterns!
