RII31813 Certificate III in Drilling Operations is a nationally recognised qualification.
This qualification reflects the role of employees such as drillers who perform tasks involving a broad range of skilled applications applied in a wide variety of contexts, which may involve application of some discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures.
No licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
QUALIFICATION DESCRIPTION
• Communicate effectively in the mining/drilling work place

LEARNING AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
At the successful completion of this course candidates will have demonstrated competence in accordance with the following nationally recognized competency standards and have a Mineral Drillers Trade Certificate.Requirements for completion of the qualificationThe following provides the packaging rules for this qualification, followed by the list of relevant units of competency.Successful completion of thirteen (13) units of competency made up of:eight (8) core units, andfive (5) elective units of which:up to two (2) must be chosen from group A, including:at least one (1) ‘Conduct’ unitup to two (2) units may be chosen from group Bup to two (2) units may be chosen from Certificate II, Certificate III or Certificate IV level from this, or any other Training Package or accredited courseUnits chosen must be relevant to the job function.There are no prerequisites to imported units listed in this qualification. Where a unit is imported as an elective care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisites specified are complied with.

QUALITY, RELEVANT, CUSTOMISED TRAINING
This course can include but is not limited to the following:

• 2 Day workshop / Provide work skill instruction (TBA to suit organisation)
• 1 to 2 Day Practical on the job training/assessment
• Portfolio of collected evidence on the job duties performed
• On the job experience
The workshop requires participation in-group discussions, sharing of experiences and the undertaking of various activities.
This course can also be undertaken on-site in the work place and/or by RPL designed to suit the organisation and individual.
HOLISTIC INTEGRATED DELIVERY METHODS
This course requires candidates to successfully complete:
• Theory assessments
• Practical face to face assessments in the work place or simulated workplace
• Completion of portfolio of evidence collected over qualification period
These activities provide additional learning opportunities and enables candidates to self-assess their progress throughout.

Individual student workload and assessments must be completed within the given time frame.
