Drilling Supervision
• Drilling Supervision is the initial important sequence for
get good data before going to lab test – analysis and
reporting
• If the depth of test is wrong and the sample is cutting, so
the result of lab and analysis is wrong too
• Key in garbage so output garbage too
DRILLING SUPERVISION
Drilling Supervision ( Drilling Sequence )
• Install Drag bit and cross over to the drill string
• Put the drill string to Mudline & Record the mudline depth
• Combine the mechanism tool pusher with UD tube and connected to wire slick line
• Lowering sampling probe to the Mudline
• ( Relaxing wire)
• Raise up the drill string about 4 feet
( 1.2 m), so the latching opened
• Push the drill string about 3 feet ( 90 cm)
• Raise up the wire slick line about 1m ( the latching become close and the wire stressed)
• Pull up the drill string about 3 feet
• Pull up the wire slickline and take the sample from mechanism
• Wash boring 3 feet below mudline ( 2 times flushing)
• Lowering sampling probe (tube and mechanism )to the marking line
• Pull out the drill string about 4 feet(
so the latching opened
• Push the drill string about 3 feet ( 90
cm)
• Raise up the wire slick line about 1m
( the latching become close and the
wire stressed)
• Pull up the drill string about 3 feet
• Pull up the wire slickline and take
the sample from mechanism
• Repeat again until the final depth

from the ground level
• Wash the small hole with water
(side and bottom of mechanism)
• Install the tube to mechanism and
set up the screw flat with tube
• Bandage the screw with
cellophane tape (red arrow)
• Bandaged for air hermetical so easy
to get difficult sample like very soft
clay

LABORATORY TEST (Important things)
1. Put the tube sample from drill deck
2. Extrude the sample from tube (manual extruder)
3. Cut the sample about 5-6 pieces
4. Torvane and Pocket Penetrometer
Torvane Small Blade x 25 = Kpa (Firm – Stiff layer)
Medium Blade x 10 = Kpa ( Firm Layer)
Big Blade x 2 = Kpa (Very Soft – Soft Layer)

Result x 50 = Kpa
• If got low consistency, please don’t take the PP
• If got medium – high consistency, please take the PP
• Write up the depth based on the place of test
5. For Density , use the PVC pipe for measure weight of soil
• height , diameter and weight
• For Soft soil using small diameter
• For medium – high consistency using core diameter
6. Take the sample about 10-15 cm
