Thunder Claps THE MATCHUP: This series marks the only Thunder trip to Richmond this season. Trenton split a May four-game series with the Squirrels in their lone visit to The Diamond in 2018 but won just 7 of 15 total matchups last season. The Richmond/Connecticut franchise remains one of only two Eastern League opponents (along with Akron) against whom the Thunder have an all-time losing record (163-182 since 1994). TEAM EFFORT: The Thunder currently have two players (Ben Ruta and Chris Gittens) at the top of the Eastern League in on-base percentage, three players (Ruta, Gittens, Hoy Jun Park) within the top 10 in batting average, and two players (Ruta and Gittens) within the league’s top five in walks drawn. SO CLOSE: The Thunder have played a total of 15 games decided by two runs or fewer, going 11-4 in such contests. Saturday marked the team’s first one-run loss of 2019 after Trenton had won each of its first six one-run games. PAY TO PARK: Infielder Hoy Jun Park registered his first Double-A four-hit game in Friday’s win and is now fourth in the Eastern League batting race with a .338 average. The performance was just the second four-hit game of his career (April 13, 2017 for Charleston), and the South Korea native has a hit in 11 of his last 13 games. HARD-HITTIN’: Over his last 10 games, Chris Gittens is 13-for-33 (.394) with five home runs and 13 RBI. The Texas native leads the Eastern League with a 1.164 OPS while ranking second in slugging percentage (.710), on-base percentage (.453), tied for second in home runs (7), and tied for third in RBI (23). An 0-for-5 showing on Saturday in Harrisburg ended a team-best nine-game hitting streak, which matched his career high (nine straight games May 22-June 2, 2016 with Charleston). ROOT, ROOT FOR RUTA: West Windsor, New Jersey native Ben Ruta leads the Eastern League with a .419 average, .510 on-base percentage, 36 hits, 8 stolen bases, and 20 runs scored, and leads the Thunder with 11 doubles (2 nd in EL). Ruta also has 12 multi-hit games, tops among Trenton hitters. His current 13-game on-base streak is the team’s longest this season and matches a career-high for the outfielder; Ruta also reached in 13 straight games May 27-June 9 for Tampa in 2018. THE MATCHUP: This series marks the only Thunder trip to Richmond this season. Trenton split a May four-game series with the

Squirrels in their lone visit to The Diamond in 2018 but won just 7 of 15 total matchups last season. The Richmond/Connecticut
