About The RH School of Performing Arts The RH School of Performing Arts (RHSPA) is dedicated to promoting, inspiring and empowering youth to express their energy, gifts and talents through the art of dance and modeling. The school provides specialized instruction for various dance styles for children ages 3-18 including ballet, jazz, tap, modern dance and hip hop. We will also offer modeling classes where posture, presentation and modeling techniques will be taught. Acting and Dance History are also offered The “Entire Child” is catered to at RHSPA. Our program is designed to empower youth through the discipline and creativity of dance and modeling instruction as well as encourage academic growth, promote teamwork, build healthy self-esteem and provide service within the community. Nurturing Children From the Inside Out, is the motto by which the entire RHSPA staff live. Positive affirmations being recited at the end of each class is one of many ways that the students of RHSPA are reminded of who they are and the greatness that they are destined to encounter. One of the schools favorite affirmations is “I Will Never Use The Word Can’t To Define My Possibilities”! At RHSPA it is clearly communicated that anything is possible. In addition to offering dance classes, RHSPA coordinates field trips and other activities to reinforce academic growth, promotion of teamwork, building healthy self-esteem and providing service within the community. Some of those events have included participating and/or attending RHSPA Art Day, the Monsters of Hip Hop Convention and the Monique Book Signing sponsored by Sensual Steps Shoe Salon. Everyone including the RHSPA parents and supporters along with the children participated in an annual community service project. Each year In December of 300+ brand new items were donated to the Excellent Way Women and Children’s Shelter located in the South Shore Community.

Rhea A. Henderson Rhea has been studying, performing, and teaching dance for over 30 years. Her love for children and her extensive training in performance management drove her to pursue her lifelong dream. In 2008, she opened the RH School of Performing Arts, LLC. Rhea began her ballet training at Sadie Bruce Dance Studio. She continued her studies at Mayfair Academy and in high school at Whitney M. Young in Chicago. She was awarded the gold medal in the NAACP Act-So Competition. Rhea continued her studies in the area of performing arts at the Joel Hall Dance Company where her concentration of study was Graham-Technique. Rhea spent time “polishing her act” and began training in the Miss Illinois Pageant system. Rhea’s commitment to training, talent, poise and personality earned her a place as a contestant in the Miss Illinois Pageant twice; once as the First Black Miss Macomb in 1990 and again as Miss Northwest Cook County in 1992. Her hard work and perseverance earned her a spot as a top10 finalist in the Miss Illinois Pageant in 1992. With the help of extensive training with Jackie Blakely and the Collage Modeling Troupe, Rhea went on to do runway and choreography for such greats as Revlon, Colomer USA, and Inner Beauty Fashion Affair throughout the U.S. As an active community advocate for over 10 year, Rhea has coordinated/participated in community service events. Rhea is a firm believer that the gifts that you receive are in direct proportion to the gifts that you give. It is this belief that drive’s Rhea to engage the students, parents and supporters of the RH School of Performing Arts in an annual community service activity. Rhea is a graduate of Chicago State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Health Information Management. She is actively pursuing her Master’s degree in Business Administration. Rhea is a member of the UDMA (United Dance Merchants of America), Chicago Women’s Entrepreneur Network, and The BOSS Network.
