Louviere and Woodworth(1983)によって開発された離散選択実験(discrete choice experiments : DCEs)-選択実験(choice experiments)や選択型コンジョイント分析(choice-based conjoint analysis)とも呼ばれるが,後者の名称は混乱を招く可能性がある(Louviere et al. 2010)-は,社会科学において人々の選好を測定するための統計
的調査手法として,今や不動の地位を築いている.
汎用性の高さ,経済学を中心に仮定されている個
人の意思決定モデルとの整合性,そして開発から
今日に至るまでの継続的な手法の改良を通じて,
農業経済学を含めた社会科学のさまざまな研究領
域で多種多様な実証研究に活用されている.さら
に,その優れた機能は実務分野でも広く認められ
ている.離散選択実験に関する基礎研究や応用研
究を取りまとめた文献も,国内外で数多く刊行さ
れている(Louviere et al. 2000; Bennett and Blamey 2001; Bateman et al. 2002; Hensher et al. 2005; Kanninen 2007; Street and Burgess 2007; Ryan et al. 2008; Aizaki 2012b ; 合崎 2005 ; 栗山・
Implementing Discrete Choice Experiments Using the support.CEs and survival Packages in R

Summary The application of discrete choice experiments (DCEs) to empirical studies consists of the following steps: (1) establishing the objective of applying DCEs, (2) examining a hypothetical situation, (3) creating choice sets, (4) preparing a questionnaire survey, (5) implementing the survey, (6) preparing the data set for discrete choice model analysis of the responses, and (7) implementing the analysis and extracting additional information from the results. This paper provides Japanese R beginners with an explanation of how the sup-port.CEs and survival packages in R are used for implementing this series of steps via an illustration of con-sumers
, valuation of rice.
