Who we are.• Established at Western in 1989• First of its kind in the world• Remains the only such Centre in the Americas• Mission: the generation and dissemination of academic
scholarship focused specifically on the socio-cultural study of the Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement

1) Produce Olympika: The International Journal of Olympic Studies• refereed scholarly journal
2) Host the International Symposium for Olympic Research• organized every Olympic year• including (but not limited to): history, sociology, philosophy,
management, health sciences, media studies, business, law• papers published in peer-reviewed Proceedings • future sites (in discussion)• Sochi 2014, Rio 2016
