Monday, April 20, 2020: What did you do over the weekend:
Lesson 13 Vocabulary Words:
1. culture:The traditions, arts, and beliefs of a certain group of people: In his Native American culture, the fall harvest is a time for celebration.
2. community: A group of people who live together in the same area: Our community is filled with friendly neighbors.
3. languages: A system of words, expressions, signs, or symbols shared by a group of people: At our house we speak two languages: Spanish and English.
4. transportation: Means of getting from on place to another: Trains are my favorite kind of transportation.
5. subjects: Course of study: Science and social studies are his favorite subjects in school.
6. lessons: Something to be learned or taught: After a few more lessons, I’ll be able to skate like an Olympic athlete!
7. special: different from what is common or usual: Birthdays are special occasions.
8. wear: To have on the body: In cold places, people wear two or three layers of clothes.

MATH – Counting Pennies, Nickels, Dimes and Quarters.
This week students will be learning about the value of a penny = 1 cent, a nickel = 5 cents, a dime = 10 cents and a quarter = 25 cents.
Students will also be counting and totaling groups of coins.
Math work is to be completed on TUESDAY,
WEDNESDAY, AND FRIDAY ONLY !!!!
Students can submit answers daily but not later than Friday midnight.

What is the Purpose of Government?
Governments are formed to keep people safe and to help people work together. The government does that by making laws. Laws are rules made by the government to keep people safe and help people work together. A law you may know is not crossing the street when the light is red. If you break this law, you can get hurt by a car. Police officers make sure people follow the laws.
