Graduates get priority seating in the next available PET class! This is also a good choice if you are planning to go to work in the near future. Get ready! Get psyched!
Communication Skills: This course is intended for intermediate Teaching Certificate students, and other students who are interested in the topic but who don’t necessarily want to become teachers. Learn to use your strengths and communicate successfully in the classroom and in life in general. Come improve the way you get and stay connected with communication!

Computers In Recovery: Learn to use computers in your recovery journey! Make friends online, join online support groups, find resources—connect! This course provides basic instruction and practice that will improve your life and your vocational skills. Beginners warmly welcomed. (Yes, even those of you who have never touched a mouse!)
Dimensions of Wellness: Understanding all the ways in which recovery can happen is empowering! What dimension of your health is strongest, and which one do you want to focus on strengthening? We are going to have fun sharing ideas about these 9 Dimensions of Wellness together with great group activities and discussions. Can’t wait to see you here!

Finding Your Voice: We are excited to offer this new class to creative and imaginative students who like to write, read, and perform. We will teach you how to captivate an audience with your unique talents. Our plan is to produce a final performance for the Wellness City community at the end of this class. Come experience the best kind of drama!

Yoga can help you to balance your energy and achieve a peaceful mental state. An expert yoga instructor will guide you through what could become a lifelong healthy habit!

Recovery Gardening: This hands-on gardening class is for anyone who wants to develop a green thumb and a better understanding of what it means to tend your own recovery garden. Our instructors are very sophisticated gardeners with a lot to share. Together, we want to beautify our campus with plant and people-blooms!
Remembering Who You Are: Whether you are remembering or discovering yourself, you are warmly welcomed to come to this awesome workshop. Learn more about yourself in many different and fun ways. Our aim is to help you know yourself better and to discover what is wonderful about you!
Substance Abuse Recovery Training: This course is part of the Recovery Teaching Certificate Program, and is for intermediate students. Come learn about issues related to substance abuse and recovery, and how we can support learners who are striving to achieve sobriety. Gain sensitivity to the needs of these students and become a great role model!
Teaching the Recovery Pathways: This is the first course in the Recovery Teaching Certificate series. In this class, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the pathways to recovery, the Nine Dimensions of Wellness, and ways to make these concepts come alive for your learners. Please come with a notebook and a willingness to gain new teaching skills!
Recovery Teaching Certificate Program
Have you had psychiatric experiences that challenged you? Are you working hard on your recovery? Do you like to share
your story and your knowledge with others?
If so, you may want to consider training to become a Recovery Educator!
Recovery Educators have the honor of sharing their personal experiences and knowledge about healing and growth with
others. They get to connect with individuals and groups in a special and close way. As leaders, they role-model and
demonstrate integrity, honesty, positive attitude, and passion for learning. As peers, they relate to their students with
mutuality and love.
Is teaching or facilitating your calling? Please call our Education Coordinator, Marilyn Fall, to talk about your strengths and
interests, and to see if this certificate program would be a good fit for you!
Our Curriculum
The Recovery Teaching Certificate Program includes ten 10-week classroom courses, and one 100-hour hands-on internship. Students complete each course with a
grade of “C” or better until they are ready to serve as interns in the Recovery Education Center. As an intern, you will be invited to co-teach a recovery-oriented
course with a mentor. You’ll get to use all that you’ve learned in your coursework and your past experiences to help inspire others to recover!
Course List:
1. Teaching the Recovery Pathways
2. Computing for Teachers
3. Communication Skills for Teachers
4. Substance Abuse Recovery Training
5. Ethics in Recovery Education
6. Methods of Teaching Recovery
7. 4 Electives
8.. Internship (100 hours)
Students will be asked to enroll in at least one course each term until they complete the program. The maximum number of courses that you can take in one term
toward your certification is three (3). We want you to get all you can out of your learning experiences, and to be successful with your assignments, homework,
quizzes, presentations, etc…
To be eligible, you must be receiving SMI services from Magellan and have a GED or High School Diploma. It’s OK if you haven’t been in school for a long time—we
can help you develop skills to be an effective student.
