The much needed service between Port Blair-Car Nicobar & Campbell Bay has become a reality due to the concerted efforts of Central Govt, the Lt. Governor and the A&N Administration. The service was flagged off by the Lt. Governor, A & N Islands, Lt. Gen. A.K. Singh (Retd) and the Chief Secretary, A & N LG, CS flag off IAF Dornier flight services to Nicobar District Passengers express satisfaction & gratitude to Administration Administration, Shri Anindo Majumdar jointly at a brief function held at the Helicopter Terminal. The Lt Governor interacted with the passengers bound to the southern group of Islands and conveyed his regards to the people of the area. He also handed over the boarding passes to the passengers on the occasion. The Civil Aviation Department greeted the passengers of the inaugural flight with flowers and also offered refreshments before their embarkation. The Dornier 228 aircraft is a state-of-the-Art, twin engine turbo-prop aircraft, which can cruise at a speed of 200 kts. The aircraft is fitted with all modern avionics and is widely used for executive transport by the Indian Airforce. The A & N Administration has launched this service to augment the air-transport capacity to Nicobar District. With the launch of this facility, the people of southern group of Islands have been largely benefitted. Some of the passengers at the Helicopter Terminal, while speaking to 'The Daily Telegrams', expressed their satisfaction over the starting of the Dornier flight service. Shri Sanjay Singh, Vice President BJP and a resident of Campbell- Bay said, with the efforts of Central Govt., the Lt Governor and the A&N Administration, this service has been possible and the demand of fixed wing aircraft service for Nicobar District has been fulfilled. The Dy. Director, Civil Aviation, Shri Ravichandran informed that the services of this flight will be available twice a week, on every Monday and Friday. As per the New Delhi, Aug 5 Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will launch a mobile app for the Prime Minister's Office, tomorrow on the occasion of second anniversary of citizen engagement portal Mygov(dot)in. The Prime Minister has often taken ideas for his programme 'Mann Ki Baat' from this Mobile app for Prime Minister's Office to be launched today portal. The application has been developed by six students, selected through a contest. The app will allow Prime Minister to directly interact with citizens, who can share their ideas and thoughts. The Prime Minister also will launch new initiatives and distribute prizes to winners of the contest. The event will see participation from various stakeholders including Cabinet ministers, senior officers from Ministries and Departments, government organisations, representatives from media, IT and social media industry and citizens who have participated in the MyGov initiatives. This will be a first Town Hall by an Indian Prime Minister. Town Hall as a concept is commonly used in the West among politicians as well as CEOs to interact with people directly. MyGov has 35.2 lakh registered members. Mayabunder, Aug 5 The Principal Secretary, (Rev./Health/Edn./DM/ Plg.), Shri Raajiv Yaduvanshi, visited Mayabunder and Diglipur yesterday. During his visit to Mayabunder in the morning, he visited Dr.R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder and inspected all its units viz. Operation Theatre, Wards, Dialysis unit, Homeopathy unit, Immunization unit, Birth and Death Registration Unit and interacted with the Medical staff. The Asst. Commissioner, Rangat, Shri Rajesh Choudhary and Asst. Commissioner, Diglipur, Shri A.K. Trivedi also accompanied the Pr. The Chief Medical Officer (i/c), Dr. Jameela Banu informed the Pr. Secretary that 100 % Aadhar coverage has been made under Dulari Scheme. Pertaining to the issue of shortage of administrative staff, the Principal Secretary directed the CMO to submit a detailed report. He was also informed that an RO plant has been installed for providing clean and hygienic water to both inpatients and outpatients. Soon after that, the Principal Secretary paid a visit to Mahatma Gandhi Govt. College, Mayabunder and inspected the computer lab, Library and enquired about all the facilities. He also visited the newly built 50 bedded Girls Hostel of the MGG College and directed Executive Engineer, PWD to provide electricity connection immediately so that the shortage of girls hostel accommodation is solved. The Principal, MGGC, Dr. J Manhas appraised the Pr. Secretary about various issues of the College. The Principal Secretary directed him to submit data of students in detail and directed the Assistant Engineer -I, NACD, APWD to submit a detailed report about the college. The Principal Secretary also was informed about the allotted site of 2 hects for college football playground which was insufficient. It was decided to increase the area of allotment. The APWD has 19 Division and total 4249 Mazdoors working from last 5 to 20 years on daily rated basis, whereas 2883 MP raises issues of APWD DRMs in Parliament New Delhi, Aug 5 Union Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley has said, India has maintained its economic growth rate despite challenging global situation. Replying to a debate in the Lok Sabha yesterday on the Supplementary Demands for Grants for the current financial year, Shri Jaitley expressed hope that the country will do better further on economic front as monsoon is also good this year. He said, it will generate rural demands and will spur agricultural growth and enhance farmers income. The Minister said, India needs higher investment for development of infrastructure sector. He also said, there should be a reasonable tax system and tax evaders should be brought within the tax net. The amount was given to the legal heir Smt. Bijaya Biswas, Wife of Shri Mukunda Roy. The financial assistance has been sanctioned under 'A & N Islands Scheme for Providing Financial Assistance to Victims of Accidents' (who are not covered under the prevailing NDRF/SDRF norms approved by the GoI), a communication from the Assistant Commissioner/SDM, South Andaman District said here today. Directorate of Civil Aviation by 11.00 AM on a day prior
to scheduled departure of each flight for issuances of
tickets.
Car Nicobar- The passengers will be required to
submit their application at the Office of the Deputy
Commissioner, Nicobar for reservation of tickets.
Campbell Bay- The passengers will be required
