The Trinity Council met on October 10, 2011. Council reviewed the September Financial Report.

Design Teams have been formed to work on re-using spaces in the church. Jaci Behlen, Tom and Karen Zimmerman, Johnell Pennington, Teresa Shank and Jolene Gragert have agreed to serve on the new Nursery Committee. Barb Sanders, Donna Dubsky, Phil Johnson and Marcia Muhle are members of the new Prayer Room Committee. K e r ry B e l i t z r e p o r t e d on arrangements for “Raise the Roof” fundraiser. Michelle Stirek has printed tickets and is working on the auction catalog. Mike Drinnin has made the arrangements for the dinner and is working on the grain auction and other areas. Ticket sales began this past weekend.

Pastor White reported that Paul Eldred thanked him and the Council for our consideration in extending him a contract call as an unpaid and deployed pastor. Paul is available between Thanksgiving and Christmas for the ordination. A motion was made by Todd Pedersen and seconded by Dan Mickey that we proceed with plans to call Paul Eldred as an unpaid pastor to the mission field of Turkey contingent upon having liability questions answered; motion carried.

Motion was made by Kerry Belitz and seconded by Dennis Durkop to hold a Special Congregational Meeting on November 6th following the 10:30 Service to vote to extend a contract call to Paul Eldred as an unpaid pastor deployed to the mission field; motion carried.

Pastor Nestor has reported to Pastor White that it is possible to stream the weekly church service on the church website at a cost of $1,000 a year. The audio of the sermons could be done for free. The Council may consider this at a later date.

Pastor White reported on the LCMC National Meeting last week at Des Moines, Iowa. Pastor White reported that it was a very positive gathering. There were 48 breakout sessions. He stated that there are now 724 congregations in the LCMC.

President Young asked the Council to be thinking of candidates for Trinity Church Council. There will be a need for at least two (possibly five) new members in January.

The next Counc il meet ing is November 14, 2011.

Your contributions to TRINITY’S MEMORIAL FUND are greatly appreciated. Gifts are accepted at any time in memory of or in honor of a loved one. Names of those being memorialized are listed in Trinity’s Annual Report. THANK YOU for your contribution to the Memorial Fund in the third quarter of 2011.

“MUSICAL CHAIRS” BEGINS WITH DESIGN TEAMS

by Pastor White

Now that Rooms 9, 10 and 11 are vacant due to the closing of Kids of the Kingdom, steps can be taken toward the reconfiguration of our room use at Trinity. The sudden availability of space means we can move ahead to accomplish some long-held strategic ministry goals: designing a room dedicated to prayer, a larger and more modern nursery and enhancing the experience of children participating in All Stars Express and Breakout.

Room 11, though not yet redecorated, is already being used as a learning environment for the All Stars Express Pre-Kindergarten and is also being used on Wednesday nights for Breakout. The current nursery will eventually be moved to a redesigned facility where Rooms 9 and 10 are at present. A design team has already been recruited to visit other churches’ nurseries, gather ideas together and develop a comprehensive redesign plan for

the space we have - to include a check-in area, separate rooms for infants and toddlers, new carpeting, wall and window coverings and lighting. The goal is a safe, modern and inviting nursery that effectively serves the needs of children and families.

A design team has also been assembled to convert the current nursery (once it is vacated) into our new Prayer Room. There’s a lot of excitement for this. In fact, designated contributions for a Prayer Room already exceed $7,600. The Prayer Room Design Team will develop a plan to create a room that invites contemplation—lighting, colors, furnishings and room appointments. The Prayer Room would be available for the use of our Sunday Morning Prayer Team and open for its use by groups and individuals throughout

the week. The room would continue to double as a “Bride’s Room” as it currently does when there are weddings.

It’s exciting to begin the process of transforming these rooms for new use. We want to be very deliberate and certain as we move along. I will be conscious to keep you up-to-date on the progress.

REDEDICATION WEEKEND AT TRINITY … WHAT HAVE WE INITIALLY DEDICATED? Read 2 Chronicles 7 with me. Let’s ask ourselves some life-application questions together!

by Pastor Nestor

Have you ever participated in any dedication ceremonies or services? Ever wonder why some people dislike the practice of “taking” an offering during a church service? We don’t “take” an offering do we? We give an offering! Let’s explore the Scriptures and our hearts with some penetrating questions this month! 1. Why were Solomon and all the people gathered at the

new temple? 2. What remarkable events happened after Solomon

finished praying in the new temple? 3. Why couldn’t the priests enter the temple? 4. How did the people respond when they saw what was

happening in the temple? 5. What did the people say as they were worshipping the

Lord? 6. As you sing the song at worship services which is

based on verses 3 and 6, what is happening in your heart?

7. What did the people and Solomon give to the Lord as an act of worship?

8. With what attitude did the people return home?

Now, let’s dig deeper into our own hearts!

A. What does it mean to dedicate to God? B. How can a Christian dedicate his or her life to God’s

service? C. What role does giving play in our worship of God? D. How would our worship of God be different i f we saw

fire from heaven consume our offerings and sacrifices?

E. How does the worship of God in spirit and in truth change the worshiper?

F. What does congregational and private worship do to alter your perspective on life?

Be blessed as you praise Him this week!

A. How can you prepare yourself to worship this next week with an attitude of giving and praising rather than wanting something for yourself?

B. For what specific reasons can you praise God this week?

C. What part of your life do you need to dedicate anew to the Lord?

Special Congregational Meeting Sunday, November 6th at 11:30 a.m.

Trinity Fellowship Hall

This meeting is for the purpose of voting on offering a contract call to Paul Eldred to be an unpaid pastor of Trinity deployed to the mission field of Turkey as an employee of East European Missions Network. The purpose of this call is so that Paul can be credentialed as an ordained minister with LCMC for the work in which he is currently engaged.

SEE COLUMN AT RIGHT FOR A MORE DETAILED EXPLANATION.

Paul Eldred Call and Ordination Trinity provides some monthly financial support to Paul and Lea Eldred, missionaries to Turkey. The church they attend has asked Paul to take on pastoral duties like funerals, weddings and bringing Holy Communion to the homebound. Paul is pursuing theological studies but is not ordained. This has proved to be something of a barrier to the work he’s being asked to do in his church. The school he attends has inquired as to whether, in LCMC, Paul could be ordained prior to the completion of his Master of Divinity Degree. It turns out there is already precedent for this in LCMC. With a contract call people who are not certified clergy in LCMC can, never-the-less, be called by a congregation and then “deployed” to their specialized ministries, such as hospital chaplaincy. Bill Moberly, the missions agency Director contacted Pastor White to inquire whether Trinity would consider doing something like this for Paul. The Trinity Church Council discussed this proposal three times over the course of the past five months. At the October Council meeting the Church Council voted unanimously to schedule a Congregational Meeting to call Paul; if the call is approved, we would hold a Service of Ordination for Paul at T rinity. T rinity would not be further obligated financially to Paul under this arrangement.

Groups to begin forming soon and will start to meet in January.

Missed out last time? Sign-up begins early in December!!!
