The audit team led by Engineering Professor Hilal Hamzah, conducted audits at the three factory locations. Several inputs regarding to the energy savings delivered by him, including the formulas and theories that can further reduce energy and water consumption.

Planting Tabebuia Tree

“One Employee, One Tree” is a program to which PT. Ungaran Sari Garments is committed. On October 9, 2014, representatives of our customer Ann Inc. planted a Tabebuia tree. The Ann team members are Lisa Mooney (LOFT Sourcing Director), Lindsey Russell (ATF Sourcing Manager), and Amy Chow (Merchandising Manager).

The Tabebuia family consists almost entirely trees, but some are large shrubs. A few species

produce timbers, but the genus is mostly known for those that are

flowering trees.

Environmental Management System Training

As a form of our commitment to environmental awareness, PT. Ungaran Sari Garments is continuously providing training to employees on the Environmental Management System or EMS. On October 2, 2014, an EMS training was held for each department of PT. Ungaran Sari Garments.

EMS is a framework that helps a company achieves its environmental goals

through consistent control of its operations. The assumption is that this

increased control will improve the environmental performance of the

company. The EMS itself does not dictate a level of environmental

performance that must be achieved; but rather each company’s EMS is

tailored to the company’s business and goals.

Local Community Care Celebrating with the Community

PT. Ungaran Sari Garments celebrated the 69th

Independence Day of Indonesia with the people of the factories’ neighboring communities. This year, the company donated a total of US$ 620 across 10 representatives of the local community. A variety of activities were included in the celebration, ranging from help in cleaning up the environment to praying together.

Eid Al-Adha Day

On October 5, 2014, PT. Ungaran Sari Garments held a sacrificial butchery of 3 cows for the three factory locations – Ungaran, Congol, and Pringapus – to commemorate the Muslim holy day of Eid Al-Adha Day (Idul Adha in the Indonesian language). There were 788 packs ofsacrificial meat distributed to employees and 162 packs to neighboring villagers. There was 0,7 kilogram meat in each packs.

Clean Water Supply During the dry season, which typically spans from April through October, some areas experience shortages of clean water. On September 24, 2014, PT. Ungaran Sari Garments supplied clean water – a total of 24,000 liters (600 USD) – to 5 locations within the district of Semarang that experienced the most severe drought: Legarang Village (8,000 liters), Legarang Mountain Village (4,000 liters), Jatisari Village (2,000 liters), Agun Garden Village (4,000 liters), and Pungkruk Village (6,000 liters).

Eid Al-Adha is also called as “festival of the sacrifice” or “feast of the sacrifice”. It is one of two major religious holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide each year and it honors the willingness of Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his son, Ishmael (Ismail), as an act of

submission to God’s command, before God intervened to provide Abraham with a lamb to sacrifice instead. The custom during Eid Al-Adha is as follows: the family or the provider

retains one third of the share, another third is given to relatives, friends, and neighbors, and the remaining third is given to the poor and needy.
