M signifies motorcoach transfers from Portage to Anchorage or Girdwood depots. Spencer/Grandview passengers may disembark train at Portage at 5:20 PM for motorcoach transfers to Girdwood (6:00 PM) and Anchorage (6:45 PM). Reservations are required. Glacier Discovery Train will operate round trip from Anchorage to Whittier only on the following dates: May 13, 17 & 20, 2017. Daily service will begin May 27, 2017.

Round-trip fare from Talkeetna to Hurricane $104 Adult/$52 Child
This unique train – one of the last flagstop trains in America – serves as the sole means of transportation for a stretch of roadless backcountry along the 55-mile expanse between Talkeetna and Hurricane Gulch. Passengers can get off the train anywhere, and hop back on the return journey with the wave of a flag.
In operation since 1923, the Alaska Railroad Corporation is a full-service railroad and vital transportation link to ports and communities throughout Southcentral and Interior Alaska. The Alaska Railroad conducts business as a regularly scheduled public transportation service in these regions.
