9. Dear Alumni and Friends: It has been a fantastic month for
NUF! We have welcomed 25 Fellows for the Class of 2015 to our
family. I have also had the pleasure to reconnect with 34 Fellows
of the Class of 2014, who will be graduating on July 31. We have
seen the power of the NUF network with alumni firsts and
accomplishments throughout the country. Michelle DePass 98
appointed as the Dean of the Milano Graduate School at the New
School in New York City; Nelson Hernandez 88 named City Manager of
Carson, CA; Betty Baker 88, appointed County Manager of Alachua
County, FL; Duncan Harrison 09, the youngest City Councilman
elected in the City of Trenton, NJ; and finally the election of
Melissa Mark Viverito 95 as City Council Speaker in New York City.
The results of 2014s Race to Give has been impressive with class
participation reaching an all-time high and surpassing our goal of
$45,000. Our alumni continue to move the organization forward with
their support and engagement. In these challenging fiscal times it
is more critical than ever to Sustain the Legacy. I am proud to
announce the Class of 2011 as the winner of the 2014 Race to Give.
As in previous years several classes distinguished themselves by
being in the lead position throughout the campaign. I am very proud
that for the last three years alumni giving has increased every
year since we started. The Class of 2005 deserves special mention
for inspiring the charge as three-peat winners. I also want to
acknowledge the Class of 2015 Fellows who volunteered their free
time to reach out to alumni network. Sincerely, Miguel A. Garcia
Jr.
