After looking at some existing hiphop magazine, I found that extreme fashion is heavily promoted, however that’s not very affordable for my target audience. Therefore, the clothes of the models are quite simple and affordable, it’s not expensive or extravagant. As I wanted to represent the income of the target audience who are 16 to 18 year olds therefore the fashion has to be approachable and affordable for them.

After analyzing my survey results, I found that a lot of target audience were female aged between 16 and 18.

Most of my target audience were fans of hiphop and rap genre.

Through my survey I found out that lots of other ethnicities also make up my target audience, therefore I wanted to represent race diversity through my magazine. Also, after looking at existing hiphop magazine I found out that there is an over representation of Afro Caribbean people, so in my magazine I wanted to make sure that other ethnicities were also represented to make them feel approachable.

In my content page, my magazine editor was a young White female, my front cover features an young Asian female and my double page article features a young Afro Caribbean male, I tried to include different types of race so that all my target audience feel represented in this magazine and feel included.

My magazine is £2.00, I wanted to represent the income of my target audience who are 16 to 18 year olds. Most of my target audience go to college and some probably have a part time job with low income therefore, I made sure that my magazine for affordable for them.

When I was doing my research I found that hiphop magazine promote Black male negatively, they are given a “gangster” image, this was something I wanted to tackle.

Therefore, I featured a successful young Black male to show Black male in a positive way. Also, my target audience can look up to this particular Black male as a role model.

Also by featuring a male for the main article I am representing male as through my survey I found out that around 45% of my target audiences are male so this is a way to represent the male audience which will attract them to this magazine.

Many existing hiphop magazine sexualised women by clothing and makeup, therefore through my magazine I wanted to give female a positive image as it would give my female target audience a role model to look up to.

Therefore, the clothing of my female models are conservative yet fashionable. Also my young female model is the magazine’s editor which is a high position for a woman to be in which yet again represents young women in today’s world and this will give my target audience a role model to look up to.
