    What is a Quadrilateral?What is a Quadrilateral?

A quadrilateral is a two-dimensional figureformed by connecting four segmentsendpoint to endpoint with each segmentintersecting exactly two others. It alsohas four sides and four angles.

    ObjectivesObjectives

Make distinct definitions of whatparallelograms, kites, rectangles, squares, rhombi,

and trapezoids are. Sort and classify quadrilaterals.

Designate the best name for a

    given quadrilateral, givenexamples.

    Terms associated withTerms associated withquardilateral.quardilateral.

Adjacent sides: Two sides of quardilateral areadjacent , if they have a common vertex.

Opposite sides: Two sides of a quardilateralare opposite sides , if they have no commonvertex.

Consecutive angels: The consecutive angelsof a quardilateral are two angels which

include a side in their intersection. In otherwords two angels are consecutive , if theyhave common arm.

Opposite angels: Two angels are said to be

opposite , if they do not have any common

q In a parallelogram , the bisectors of any two consecutive angels

intersect at right angel.q The angle bisector of a parallelogram form a triangle.

q If diagonals of a parallelogram bisects one of the angels of theparallelogram , it also bisects the second angle.

q If the diagonals of a parallelogram ABCD intersect at O and a linethrough O intersects AB at X & DC at Y , then OX=OY.
