Process to identify Slow & Advanced Learners at entry level of the programme



Activities for Advanced Learners: Students’ participation in seminar/quiz/project competitions at local/state/national

levels, in various projects, case study preparation, surveys, Filed Photo Competition,

Geological Survey of India Training, Science Exhibition etc.

Participation of PG students are in various Seminars/Conferences/ Workshops etc.

Students are guided and supported to prepare themselves for national level examinations,

such as JAM and NET/SET. They are also motivated and recommended for short term

workshop of NIUS conducted by Homi Bhabha Science Centre, Mumbai.

Institute organizes Summer Courses/ Short term courses for students.

Advanced learners are provided hands on training of fabrication & design of experimental

kits/setup.

Use of computer in analysis of experimental observations is made mandatory for advanced

learners.

Advanced learners are allowed to guide and help the slow learners while performing

laboratory experiments.

Motivating research aptitude through events like AVISHKAR.

Motivating students for career cell classes to appear for competitive exams.

Departments follow various informal student-centric methods to meet the quest for

knowledge of the advanced students. These include debates, individual and group

presentations/ discussions, etc

Advanced learners are encouraged to enroll for SWAYAMs NPTEL online courses under

the mentorship of college faculty.

Facility of virtual Laboratory of Amrita University.

Activities for Slow Learners: To bridge the knowledge gaps of slow learners departments organize bridge courses for

theory and practicals part of the curriculum.

Lecture notes in printed or soft forms are made available.

Departments provide text & reference books borrowing facilities at department library.

Most of the departments have prepared a question bank and have a good collection of e-

books.

Mentoring through guardian teacher scheme is our one of the best practices.

Most of the departments provides Remedial coaching.

Bilingual approach of teaching also benefits the slow learners to understand the subject.

Activities of “Subject Clubs” such as guest lectures, quiz, poster competitions etc create

interest in students.

Department of Computer Science

Inter collegiate Seminar competition

The ComSoft society has organized an intercollegiate seminar competition for P.G. students in Computer Science & Application. Total eighteen students from different nine colleges under SGBAU jurisdiction were participated in the competition. The winners got the cash prizes. Ms. Nikita Mehare from Shri Shivaji College, Akola got first prize, Ms. BhagyashriJanjabi of G.S.CollegeKhamgaon got the Second prize & Ms. Vidhi More of SGBAU has got third prize in the competition. The certificates for participation were distributed to others.

TECHNOTSAV-2016 (Blind Programming, Seminar Competition, Quiz, Poster Presentation, Code debugging)

Under the ‘Technotsav-2016’, the BCA students have organized various competitions like Blind Programming, LAN gaming, Quiz, Poster Presentation, Paper Presentation, etc. Following students participated in Seminar Competition conducted in TECHNOTSAV- 2016. Miss. Renuka Deshpande( B.Sc. I), Mr. Sunil Tambe (BCA II), Mr. Roshan Vidhate ( B.Sc. I CA), Mr. AtualPatale (BCA II).Meanwhile at Computer Department Lab-2, the poster presentation on theme ‘Future Trends in Technology’ was organised. Total fourteen students were participated in this event. Mr. Abhijit Nipane& Mr. Kunal Bodile and Mr. Sunil Tambe these students got first and secondprizes.

Code debugging organized in TECHNOTSAV-2016 and total fifty three(53) students have participated in this event. Finally, Ms. Dipika Laddha-BCA-II secured first prize and Ms. Insiya Bohra-BCAII got second prize.In Blind Programming, total forty three(43) students were participated from department. Mr. Abhijit Nipane-BCA-II got firstprize.

In Group Discussion total fifteen students were participated from Computer Science dept. Mr.S.S.Raut [B.Sc.III CS]got first prize, Second Prize , Mr. Sunil Tambe [BCA –II] got second prize in this competition.



Department of Environmental Science

Guest Lectures

On 10th Aug. 2016 dept. has organised programme of Inauguration of Environmental Science Society in

New auditorium of the college. On this occasion Principal of the college, V.G. Thakare was present as

the president of programme. Dr. A.B. Bhosale&Mr.YogeshLolge, SRTM University, Nanded were

present as the chief guests of the programme. Around 150 students of U.G.& P.G. were present. The

guest lecture of Mr. Y.S. Lolge on the topic “Scope of Environmental Science”



Visit to National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Nagpur.

On 12th August 2016 Dept. had organised a visit for B.ScIIIrd& M.Sc. I &II year student to NEERI,

Nagpur.

Scientific Rangoli competition (27th& 28th Feb. 2017.)

Scientific Rangoli competition was organized by dept. of Environmental Science on 27th& 28th Feb.

Inter collegiate Seminar competition The department has organized an intercollegiate seminar competition for P.G. students in Computer

Science & Application on 06-Sep.-2018. Total fifteen students from different eight colleges under

SGBAU jurisdiction were participated in this competition. The First/Second/Third winners got the cash

prizes of 3001/-, 2001/-,1001 respectively with the certificates

TECHNOTSAV (Blind Programming, LAN gaming, Quiz, Poster Presentation, Seminar Competition)

The students of B.C.A. of Department of Computer Science have organized an event ‘TECHNOTSAV’

on 16-Jan-2019 for U.G. students of the college. Total five different activities like Blind

Programming, LAN gaming, Quiz, Poster Presentation, Seminar Competition are going to be

conducted for the students of graduation under Technotsav.

Following students from BSc, BCA and MSc participated in the different events of TECHNOTSAV-

Guest Lecture On:-“ Water Harvesting and Conservation” On 4th Sept. 2018, a guest lecture was organized jointly with the Dept. of Geology. Dr.Mawle, Asso.

Prof., Dept. of Geology, S.G.B.A.U., Amt.was the Chief Guest of the Function. He delivered guest

lecture on “Water Harvesting and Conservation”. He informed students about various techniques of

water conservation. He also conveyed the need of rainwater harvesting for resolving the future water

scarcity problem and water availability.

On this occasion, Ms.Nilima Ingle, water quality expert, Z.P., Amt., Guest of honor of the

function, informed about the various schemes of Z. P. including ‘ MagelTyalaShet Tale’ etc. She also

informed about the employment opportunities in the subject of Environmental Science.

One DayWorkshop on GIS: In this technological era,to enhance the opportunitiesinemployment,new doors of skill development

introduced by conducting One-day workshop on 30 - 01-2019.Two sessions are conducted. Firstsession

is introduction to basic in Q-GIS &in II ndsession was hands on practice provided to students in

computer Lab. Slow 7 advanced learner student get benefitted with this workshop.

Science College, Nagpur on 18 June, 2018.

September, 2018 .

University on Novel Methods of Nanomaterial Synthesis .

Summer Course in Experimental Physics “Summer Course in Experimental Physics” an enriched short term course on Physics

Experiments for Undergraduate students was organized by Department of Physics during 11th to 20th June, 2018. The course was inaugurated by Principal Dr. V.G. Thakare, Dr. V.B. Bhatkar, Head Department of Physics elaborate the need of the course in the current scenario. Dr. H.S. Lunge, IQAC co-ordinator express his thoughts and congratulates the student for their participation on this occasion. In all twenty two participants participated in the course from the various colleges of Maharashtra. This course provided an opportunity to motivated B.Sc. Physics students to carry out comprehensively some selected experiments from different branches of Physics. The students were guided by the faculty to the overall approach or the possible methods of attempting desired aim of the experiments. A session on analysis of theoretical concepts in Physics using Maple Simulation Software was also arranged during the course. Dr. Sham Anwane, Head, Department of Physics, Shri Shivaji Science College, Nagpur was the resource person for the session.

Two Days Workshop On Nanomaterial Synthesis: The workshop on nano-materials synthesis was organized by the department in collaboration with IIT, Kharagpur, during 17th and 18th February, 2019. In all 42 students from various colleges were participated in the workshop. Dr. T. Theivasnthy, Kalasalingam University (TN) was the resource person for the workshop.

Department of Physics

Short Term Course on Material Synthesis and Characterizations An enriched short term course on Material Synthesis and Characterizations for postgraduate and research students was organized by Department of Physics during 09th to 14th December, 2019. The sessions were held on material synthesis by the faculty members of the department followed by the hands on training in the laboratory on first three days. The next three days were totally devoted for the material characterization and analysis at CIC of the college.

Feb 29, 2020 – Report-on competition on Presentation and Demonstration of Physics Experiments :-

A competition on Presentation and Demonstration of Physics Experiments was organized on

29th feb,2020 by the Physics Department in collaboration of Amravati University Physics Teachers Association (A.U.P.T.A.) The competition was inaugurated at the hands of Dr.V. G. Thakare, the Principal .



From B.Sc. First year category total 16 students participated , 18 students From B.Sc. second year category & From B.Sc. final year category total 11 students participated in the competition .

Session 1 which includes the experimental presentation , immediately followed by inaugural ceremony. Parallel sessions were arrange in A.V. Theatre and Physics laboratory of the department with a strong team of juries (referees ) which includes Prof. Narendra Thakare, Dr A W. Asole , Dr. S.J. Uke ,Dr .J.T. Ingale. Session 2 The demonstration of the Physics experiment was arranged in session 2. For B.Sc. final category, Miss. Sanjana Dondalkar of Shri Shivaji science college, Amravati bagged the first prize Miss Samruddhi Mule of R.L.T. college of Science .Akola ,was awarded with ,second prize In B.Sc. second year category, Mr. Ganesh Sahatrabuddhe of Shivaji college Akola , bagged the first prize Miss Deepika Sharma of M.S.P. Sci. college Manora, Dist. Washim was awarded with second prize.. In the B.Sc. first year category Mr Aakash Suradkar from Shivaji College ,Chikhali, dist .Buldana bagged the first ku. Sakshi Thakare of Shri Shivaji science college ,Amravati bagged second prize. The cash prize and the certificate distribution was held during the valedictory function in the honored presence of Dr.S.K.Omanwar ,B.R.S. Fellow ,Former Professor and H.O.D. Department of Physics. S.G.B.A.U. Amravati .Dr.P.A.Nagpure proposed the vote of thanks at the end of the program.

“ONLINE TWO-DAY WORKSHOP ON CSIR-NET/SET EXAMINATION”was successfully organized byP.G. Department of Chemistry, Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravation25th& 26thAugust 2021. The spectrum of delegates covers the different Universities of Maharashtra including Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Solapur University. Mumbai University,Savitribai Phule Pune University and SantGadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati. Total four eminent speakers&500 participants including research scholars, post graduate students and faculties from different Universitieswere registered for this Online web-based workshop. Workshop covered inaugural function and four invited talks of eminent resource persons & experts in their fields, were introduced with their effective presentations.The workshop was conducted on online platform mode like Zoom, You tube & official website of Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati. There was overwhelming response for this Online Web-based workshop.Near about 200 participants were actively participated on this online web-based workshop.The students have benefited in many ways from thisworkshop. The Invited talks and Keynote Speakers from differentUniversities of state Maharashtra addressed to participants and shared knowledge and rich experience in the subject chemical science.

The inaugural function ofonline web based CSIR-NET/SET workshop was held on 25th August 2021, Wednesday,at 11.00 AM. Dr. P. R. Mandlik, Convener of online web based CSIR-NET/SET Workshop preluded the unveil of the inaugural programme with the prologue of the Guest of Honor’s & respectable dignitaries. The inaugurator of workshop was Hon’ble Dr. F. C. Raghuwanshi Dean, Faculty of Science, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati.The opening ceremony of this online web-based workshop is proximal initiation for the participants who are willing to offer chemical science as their career, mentioned by the Inaugurator of this workshop Dr. F.C. Raghuwanshi. Guests of Honor was Dr. A. S. Aswar Prof. and Head, Department of Chemistry, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati.Guest of Honor, Dr. A.S. Aswar wasaddressed participants who are willing to offer chemical science. He mainly focused on the development of hard work, willingness and consistency regarding to the study of Chemistry including organic, inorganic and physical chemistry. He inspired the participants about the career opportunities in Research and Lectureship through CSIR - NET/SET Examination. The Inaugural session was chaired by Hon’ble Chairperson Dr. G. N. Chaudhari, Officiating Principal and Head, Department of Chemistry, Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati. The inaugural function of the workshopwas conducted by organizing secretaryDr.Y.S. Thakare.

August2021 started at 12.00 noon. At the beginning,Dr. P. R. Mandlik, convener gave introduction of the first speaker Dr. Manish D.Raut, Ex-Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Modern College, Pune. Director, R & S

Academy for CSIR-NET/SET/ GATE Chem Sci. Pune.He mainly focused on“Introduction to NET/SET examination & Stereochemistry”. He also addressed the essential aspects of percentage criteria, marks distribution according to the category of students. He also addressed the idea about stereochemistry.



At the end of this interactive session,Dr. V. B. Khobragade gave gratitude to Dr. Manish D. Raut for his valuable guidance. The second session of the workshop was started at 2.30 PM.On the same day.Dr. Vikas D. Kadu,Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, School of Chemical Sciences, PunyashlokAhilyadeviHolkar, Solapur University, Solapur, was the speaker.He mainly focused on“NMR Spectroscopy”.He addressed the participants on introduction to NMR Spectroscopy, H1NMR&C13 NMR. He also interacted with the students on different kinds of numericals about NMR and the discussion session with the students about the different questions about the respective topic from last consecutive years along with the specific examples.



At the end of this interactive session,Ms.R.D.Bankargave gratitude to Dr.Vikas.D. Kadu for his valuable guidance. In the second day, the first session of the workshop dated on 26th August 2021 started at 11.00 AM by Dr. Anand Burange Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry Wilson College, Chowpatty Mumbai Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, School of Chemical Sciences, PunyashlokAhilyadevi Holkar, Solapur University, Solapur. He mainly focused on “Introduction of Reagents in Organic Synthesis”. He explained the simple, complex steps with very effective mechanism. He also explained the various kinds of Chemoselective,Stereoselective, Regioselective reactions with specific examples along with suitable mechanisms. He also discussed the different kinds of organic rearrangement reactions with the students.





At the end of this interactive session,Ms.R.D. Bankar gave gratitude to Dr.Anand S. Burangefor his valuable guidance.



The second session of the workshop dated on 26th August 2021 started at 2.00 pm by Dr.Bapurao B. Shingate,Associate Professor,Department of Chemistry, Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad.He mainly focused on “Multisteps organic Transformation Reaction”. He explained the different named Rections in Organic Chemistry with their Streochemistry. He delivered the Mechanism of free radical substitution,Pericyclic Reactions including electrocyclic, Cycloaddition and Sigmatropic Reactions as well. He also conducted the discussion session based on MCQs of CSIR-NET/SET Examination with the students accordingly.



At the end of this interactive session, Dr.V.B. Khobragadegave gratitude to Dr.Bapurao B. Shingatefor his valuable guidance. On 26th August 2021, Valedictory function was arranged. The function was chaired by Dr. G. N. Chaudhari, Officiating Principal and Head,Department of Chemistry, Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati, Convenor of the Workshop Dr.P.R. Mandlik, Organizing Secretary Dr. Y.S. Thakare and Organising committee members Dr. V.B. Khobragadeand Ms. R.D. Bankar. On the occasion, fruitful feedback was given by Participants. Course on “Chemical Handling & Laboratory Safety (CHLS-2021)” from 20/08/2021 to



06/09/2021. Dr Harshali G. Wankhade, Asst. Professor, Department of Chemistry took

initiative as a course co-ordinator to effectively carry out the sessions of this course. In this

course total 170 students of UG & PG offering Chemistry from Shri Shivaji Science College

Amravati were participated.

All the faculty members of Department of Chemistry, Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati,

has delivered the talk on handling various chemicals and instruments while performing

practicals in laboratory. This course proved to be very useful for students to get theoretical and

practical knowledge of various chemicals, glasswares and instruments used in laboratory. This

value based course definitely enhanced the student’s skill of performing chemistry practicals

safely and with accuracy. This course was successfully organized by the Department of

Chemistry.

The course was inaugurated by Prof. G. N. Chaudhari, Principal & Head, Department of

Chemistry the Chief Guest of the function. All faculty members and participants were present

in the inaugural function. Prof. G. N. Chaudhari motivated the participants.

Report on

Online Intercollegiate seminar competition for B.Sc.-II

Celebrated on 27th August, 2021

Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati conducted the Inter-Collegiate Seminar Competition on

virtual mode on 27th August 2021 in the Department of Chemistry. The seminars were focused

on various topics of chemistry that included addressing the full aspects of the topics. All the

participants from various colleges affiliated to Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati

and faculty members were present for this seminar competition. Dr. B.N. Berad, Ex-Professor,

P.G. Department of Chemistry, RTM, Nagpur University, Nagpur was the Chief Guest of the

Inaugural Ceremony. In his speech he told about the importance and main objective of seminar

competition. They also told about the Seminars hold great importance in the students’ life. Such

competitions are the platforms not only to learn new aspects, others perspectives and latest

information, but also a good way of networking, by learning about new topics and meeting

leaders in their field student feels encouraged and motivated. Introductory speech was given by

Dr. S. K. Rithe, Convener of the Seminar Competition. In his introductory speech he told about

the aims of organizing this seminar competition and its importance.

Dr. P. R. Mandlik, Organizing Secretary, has introduced the chief guest and the judges present

for the inaugural function. Dr. Sharayu Deshmukh, Associate Professor, Shri. Shivaji Science

College, Akola., Dr. P. P. Deohate, Associate Professor, RLT Science College, Akola and Dr.

G. M. Dongre, Associate Professor, Shri Shivaji Science College, Akola was the Judges for this

seminar competition.

After an inaugural function, the student-participants have delivered their topics online in the

presence of honorable judges.

The topics were based on B.Sc. II Semester 4 syllabus of Chemistry as mentioned under-

Unit 1: Chemistry of elements of transition series extraction of elements.

Unit 3: Poly nuclear hydrocarbons reactive methylene compounds and carbohydrates.

Unit 6: Crystalline state.

There was enthusiastic participation of all the students with good presentation and question

answer session was well mannered by the judges. Overall the students have given nice

response. After the completion, three best students were selected by the judges and they were

felicitated in Prize distribution program.

The prize distribution program was chaired by Dr. G. N. Chaudhari, Principal & Head of the

Department of Chemistry, Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati. The chief guest, Dr. B. N.

First cash prize for Rs. 1001/- received by Miss. Amisha Dahake, student of Shri. Shivaji

Science College, Amravati and the second cash prize for the Rs. 701/- goes to you Miss.

Muskan Navrangabade, student of B. B. Arts Commerce and Science College, Digras. The third

cash prize for Rs. 501/- was received by Miss. Anushka Kochar, student of Shri. Brijlal Biyani

Science College, Amravati.

After completion of prize distribution ceremony, Dr. G. N. Chaudhari, congratulates the winner

of this seminar competition. In his presidential address, Dr. Chaudhari especially praised the

students and said that the program should be repeated so that the children can learn something

from it as well as their confidence will increase and they will be able to stand on their own feet

in the future. He also told that, due to the programme conduction is on virtual mode, more

students could not participate in the seminar today, but from now on, if the opportunity arises,

more students should participate in it, so that they can develop an interest in the subject.

The program was conducted by Dr. N. A. Kalambe. Finally the function was ended up by

giving a vote of thanks from Dr. S. P. Ingole. All the team members took lot of efforts for

smooth conduction and to make it successful.

One month Internship Program for Forensic Science Students at Clue4 Evidence Forensic Investigations Lab, Bengaluru, India.

Clue 4 Evidence Forensic Investigations Laboratory organized a one month Internship program at Bengaluru for Forensic Science students from 01/04/2021 to 30/04/2021. Mr.B.N. Phaneendar, managing director of Clue4 Evidence Foundation took initiative as a course co-ordinator to effectively carry out the sessions of this course. In this internship total 33 students of B.Voc Forensic Science course of Shri Shivaji Science College, took participation. Mr. Phaneendar provided interns the training and experience at handling and analyzing Forensic evidences of various nature. Central focus was on performing activities such as accurate handling of evidences and learning while witnessing their analysis performed by the staff of forensic experts. This internship proved to be very beneficial for the students. They got a better understanding of how the evidences are handled and analyzed and how Forensic world works. The tasks that were performed helped them to gain an abundance of knowledge as they got to perform each task at their own pace. Going to another state helped them all with their soft skills as well. Overall, this internship experience was extremely positive for the interns, as the skills learned during this time will help them with their respective careers and in their daily lives too. 1st Week of Internship Programme (01/04/2021) On 1st April 2021, Mr. B.N. Phaneendar, Managing Director of Clue4 Evidence Foundation commenced the Internship Programme. The first week of this Internship/Training was dedicated for Handwriting and Signature Analysis, in which students learned about the features of Handwriting and signatures, which are crucial for cases of fraudulent documents. Mr. Phaneendar and his staff of Forensic experts including Ms. IpsitaSahoo and Ms. Priya Chatterjee, provided students with hands on training in analysing fraudulent documents

2nd Week of Internship Programme (06/04/2021) The second week was dedicated for the collection and analysis of Fingerprints. Mr. Phaneendar and his sraff of Forensic experts taught all students the minute yet extremely important details regarding Fingerprints, for the purpose of analysing them efficiently. He provided hands on training of the following activities: Development of Latent Fingerprints using black and white powders.

3rd Week of Internship Programme (13/04/2021) The third week of the Internship Programme was dedicated for the branch of Digital and Cyber Forensics. Training regarding various digital Forensic tools that aids in investigation of Multimedia evidences was given to each student by Mr.Phaneedar. Following activities were conducted during the sessions of Digital and Cyber Forensics Analysis of sample Audio evidences.

Checking the sample picture evidences for any kind of editing.

Data recovery.

Forensic Imaging.

Hash Calc for checking the authenticity of multimedia evidences.

4th Week of Internship Programme (20/04/2021) The fourth and the final week of Internship was dedicated for the branch of Forensic Psychology. All the students learned several aspects of Criminal psychology in depth under the guidance of Mr. Phaneendar and his team of Forensic experts. Following activities were conducted in the fourth week: Witnessing live Polygraph Test

Learning its entire mechanism

Creating accurate questionnaire for Polygraph Tests.

Analysis of the Polygraph Test Reports.

Valedictory Function of Internship Programme The valedictory function was held on 30/04/2021. The function was chaired by Mr. B.N. Phaneendar, Forensic Expert, Managing Director of Clue4 Evidence Foundation, at Bengaluru, India. Participants gave their feedback about the Internship programme. The Internship programme was concluded with the distribution of certificates.

The aim and objectives: The aim of RMC-21 is a way to systematically solve a research

problem. It is a science of studying how research is done specifically. The workshop is mainly

for PhD scholar in order to enhance the knowledge while perusing PhD and achieve their goal.

It was mix reaction to organize such workshop in the COVID pandemic because of time

constraint and to conduct it online mode but any way it was good response from participant’s

sides.

Day 1: on day 1 the inaugural function for the inaugural, respected Principal Dr. V.G.Thakare,

Chair The session, Dr. G.N. Chaudhari, Prof and Head Department of Chemistry, Convener of

the workshop and vote of thanks was given by Dr. N.R. Thakare.

In the workshop Day one has two lectures for the first session, the speaker Dr.Ranjit Thomas

delivers his talk on “Academic writing in Sciences plagiarism citation and ethics” and second

speaker was Dr.N.S.Chandan delivered his talk on “Research Opportunities in India and abroad

“ the session was chaired by Dr. A. S. Burghate , Professor in Chemistry.

For the second session Dr.Payal Joshi, delivered her talk on “preparing a robust supplementary

information research data” The session was chaired by Dr.P.R.Padole, Professor in Chemistry.

Day 2:

For the first session, the speaker were Dr.PravinIngole –IIT Delhideliver his talk on “writing

your research proposal? Mind some key aspect” and second speaker was Prof.

VivekPoleshettiwar, TIFR Mumbai delivered his talk on “how to conduct novel and quality

research” the session was chaired by Dr.yogitaThakare

For the second session, the speaker were Dr. H.S. Lunge Professor in Statistics delivered his

talk on “Data analytics and its interpretation” and second speaker was Dr. P.R. Bhagat

Professor in Chemistry, VIT Vellore deliver his talk on “Importance of research area in Basic

sciences and ethics” and the session was chaired by Dr. P. R. Mandlik , Professor in Chemistry.








National Science Day 2021 Celebration Online Quiz Competition on

“Internet Technology: Oxygen for Education System in Pandemic Situation” The theme for National Science Day this year is "Future for STI (Science, Technology and Innovations): Impact on Education, Skill and Work". By considering this theme, our title for quiz competition is much appropriate, because now a day’s whole world is facing problems due to COVID-19 Pandemic. As a academics we recognize that, Education System suffers a lot in this pandemic situation. International Mountain Day (3 days)

(10-12 December 2020)

The three-day online college level seminar competition was organized on Google Meet Platform by the

Department of Geology, Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati from 10-12 December 2020. The

Anchoring of program is done by Ms. Priyanka Sharma, B.Sc. III student, Department of Geology, Shri

Shivaji Science College, Amravati .The introductory speech was delivered by Dr. Mayura M. Deshmukh,

Head & Assistant Professor, Department of Geology, Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati. She explains

about the role and importance of mountain in human life.On opening day of online lecturer series, Dr.

Mayura M. Deshmukhintroduced Dr. P.S. Parimal, Head, Department of Geology, G.S. Tompe Arts

Commerce and Science College, Chandur Bazar and Mr. M.S. Falke, Assistant Professor, Shri Shivaji

Science College, Akola.

The competition was organized for the second and third year of B.Sc. 60 students participated in this

competition.The position of the examiner of the competition is Dr. P.S. Parimal, Head, Department of

Geology, G.S. Tompe Arts Commerce and Science College, Chandur Bazar and Mr. M.S. Falke, Assistant

Professor, Shri Shivaji Science College, Akola.

The third day seminar competition ended with a small valedictory function that was jointly attended by Dr.

P.S. Parimal, and Mr. M.S. Falke. Student’s reviews were very fantastic and they asked to conduct most

World Water Day

(March 22, 2021)

Department of Geology, Shri. Shivaji Science College, Amravati conducted an online awareness program

on the occasion of 22nd March 2021 World Water Day.World Water Day celebrates water and raises

awareness of the people living without access to safe water. It is about taking action to tackle the global

water crisis. The theme of day was Valuing Water.Valuing water means recognizing and considering all the

benefits provided by water – including economic, social and ecological dimensions. In realizing these

benefits, there is significant potential to trigger systemic change, with water valuation driving decision-

making that protects freshwater sources and ensuring water allocation reaches its most productive, equitable

and environmentally sustainable use and consumption.Today, water is under extreme threat from a growing

population, increasing demands of agriculture and industry, and the worsening impacts of climate change.

The program was anchored by Shri. Saurabh Paunikar,& introduced byDr. Mayura M. Deshmukh.For this

program 15 students were present. Departmental teachers and Geology Student exchanged ideas focusing on

water value and sustainable use of water resources.This medium has been used to spread more information

and communication about water value among the students. Some eye-opening short films were shown by

the Department of Geology as part of the initiative.Students has Exchanging ideas so as to concentrate

attention on value of freshwater and encourage the sustainable use of freshwater resources. Some eye-

1. Title of the activity : Essay/ Article / Blogging Competition on the theme

“Solution to Carbon Emission”

Objective:The objective of the activity was to celebrate National Science Day-2021 and aware students

about carbon footprints which is a measure of the impact your activities have on the amount of carbon

dioxide (CO2) produced through the burning of fossil fuels and is expressed as a weight of CO2 emissions

produced in tonnes.etc.

Activity conducted:The activity was conducted on the eve

of National Science Day-2021which was about to be

celebrated in the college on 28thFeb.2021. The NSD

committee provided lists of activities among which dept.

has to choose one activity, which can be done in online

mode. Brochure of the activity was sent on students what’s

app group and asked to write their views on the theme of

the activity i.e. “Solution to Carbon Emission” in the

form of Essay/Article or Blog in 200 to 500 words and

send it to the e-mail given in the brochure.18 students

participatedin the activity. Most of the students sent the

essay on the theme of the competition. All the write-ups

were scrutinized by the experts and 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners

weredeclared. The e- certificates were provided to all the

participant students. It was decided by the NSD Committee

that winner students will be provided hard copy of the

certificatewhen college will reopen after lockdown.

Outcome: The activity made students to think on the

theme deeply and innovatively so that they could put forth

solutions of the problem. The activity made the students to

read on the topicthus improved their knowledge and also

helped to aware them about the burning topic of carbon

emission.

Objective: Celebration of Earth Day-2021 by encouraging students forplantation at home or in their

vicinity to get the benefits and services from plants such as increase of oxygen level in the atmosphere in

Activity conducted: The activity was conducted on 22nd

April 2021on the eve ofEarth Day-2021. Earth Day is

symbolic of all that we are aiming to do to make this world

a better place for future generations. Brochurewith

instructions of the activity was to students &faculty

staff. They are instructed to plant a sapling or plant a tree

with their own name or in the name their loved ones and

asked them to send a selfie or photowith planted sapling or

plant through provided registration link. Each participant

was honored with ‘Green Beret’ andawarded with e-

certificate having a space for his / her selfie/photograph.

Near about 50 students participated in the activity.

Outcome:Students actively participated in the activity and

planted about 50 plants in the yards & in the vicinity of

their house and sent selfie with plant. The activity will

surely inculcate among students the habit of planting and

taking care of plants. Thus itwill surelyhelp to sprout

affection towards our mother earth& inspires to act

towards the protection of the environment and focus on the need for conservation.



Objective:To inform & motivate students & the society about the need to increase the number of buses in

the city to reduce airpollution and problems related to it.

Activity conducted:Parisar society of Pune in collaboration with Department of Environmental Science,

Shri. Shivaji Science College organized webinaron dated 19th May2021 on the topic- “Environmental

Research and Urban Mobility in Amravati” to reach the voice of urge to encourage students, society and

Govt. authorities improve the public transport system by increasing the number of busesas per standard

ratio. For thispanel discussion was organized in Dr. Sangita Ingole, HeadDept. of Environmental Science

was participated as a panelist along with Dr. NishikantKale,Prof.RamMeghe College ofEngg. and

management, Badnera; Yadav Tarter Patil, Writer & Environmentalist; Praful Sawarkar, Environmentalist

and Yashraj Ingole, Research Scholar,,Prof.Ram Meghe College of Engg. and management, Badnera.

Panelists expressed their views. Dr. S.P. Ingole focused on the pollution caused due to automobiles. Dr.

Nishikant Kale Informed about the carbon footprints in detail.YadavTarte patil expressed the need to save

biodiversity from air pollution and Praful Sawarkar guided about the various diseases. Parisar officials

informed that there is need of 50 buses per one lakh population.

Outcome:The webinar arouse awareness in the students and the society thatthere is need of 50 buses per

one lakh population as per standards and every has to raise a voice for it to safeguard air & health of

people from pollution by rising number of personal vehicles

topic “ Green Building : A new

concept” He told that by using the

windows, ventilation, rainwater

harvesting, reuse of water, use of solar

powered equipment, conversion

of household waste into bio compost,

we can convert our home into a

sustainable green building. He also

urged the audience to use manufactured

sand instead of natural sand while

constructing house.

Mr. Adwait Keolespoke on the topic “Hidden world of Caves”. He said that there is need of research in the

field of caves. He explained the topic in detail and throws a light on the new concepts like cavers, stalactite,

and stalagmite in a simple language. He shared some thrilling photographs related caves with students. Near

about 150 students attended the webinar.Programme anchoring and vote of thanks was given by Dr.

Kirtidhvaj Gawai. Prof. Khandve managed the work of admin for the programme. Faculty member Mr.

Vikrant Bute work hard for the successful conduction of the programme.

Outcome:Students learnt about the concept of green buildings, how to make our home into a green building,

about manufactured sand. Students also learnt about caves such as time period it required, how they form,

new concepts related to caves etc.

A Report on National Workshop on Use of Virtual Laboratory in Teaching & Learning

Jointly organised by

Department of Physics , Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati ( A Nodal Centre for V- Lab of Amrita University) & Department of Physics Shri Shivaji Science & Arts College, Chikhali

(09th – 10th August 2021)

In view of the current scenario of COVID pandemic, Department of Physics, Shri Shivaji Science College,

Amravati organized Workshop on Use of the Virtual Laboratory in Teaching and Learning for

teachers and students of Physics in collaboration with Shri Shivaji Science and Arts College, Chikhali.

Since, due to restrictions of pandemic the students cannot attend the practical sessions in the laboratory.

Conducting the experiments in the laboratory is not possible until the colleges will open for the students.

Hence this workshop is organised to make aware the students of UG and PG and faculty of physics about the

various Virtual Laboratories available on the Internet such as Amrita Virtual Laboratory, Virtual

Laboratories of Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai/Roorkee/Kharagpur/Kanpur, etc. In this workshop

Dr. P.A. Nagpure, Associate Professor and Nodal Co-ordinator of Amrita Virtual Laboratory demonstrated

many experiments of physics at UG and PG level. The workshop was conducted online on the Google Meet

Platform

In this workshop 598 students and 20 teachers from various colleges were participated.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. O.S. Deshmukh, Principal, Shri Shivaji Science and Arts College,

Chikhali. He emphasized importance of the Virtual Laboratories in the current scenario. Dr. W.S. Barde,

Guest Lecture organized by Department of Zoology, Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati on the Occasion of “World Tiger Day”

World Tiger Day is celebrated every year on 29 July. For the same, Department of Zoology, Shri

Shivaji Science College, Amravati organized a guest lecture on 30 July at 3.00 pm on the theme

“Their Survival in our hands”. The guest lecture was aimed to promote awareness regarding the

declining population of the tiger species and for their conservation in the natural habitat.

The Chief Guest of the lecture was Dr Ramzan Virani, M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph. D., B.Ed. He is a

conservation ecologist expert in handling man animal conflict. The topic for the lecture was “Tiger

Conservation: Facts and Fancies”. Dr R.G. Jadhav and Dr. G. A. Wagh were the convener and the

co-convener of the program, respectively. Dr. J.D. Dhote was the Organizing Secretary of the guest

lecture. The technical committee members of the program were Dr. G.D. Hande, Dr. R.P. Bhagat, Dr

S.J. Kawade and Ms Pratiksha Puranik.
