• Google has been the most helpful technology for me in this whole project. Google is an American multinational corporation specializing in Internet-related service and products. Technologies included:

• Search • Cloud computing

• Software • Online advertising

• I used Google throughout the whole project for research, planning, and evaluation.

Things I liked about Google:1. It’s fast2. It’s easy to access3. It enabled me to copy things straight from the

internet and onto my blog without any hassle4. Had cool tricks that made researching so much

easier

Google Tricks I liked:I’ve needed to compare my chosen band the Goo Goo Dolls to

similar artist and all I’ve had to do is type in Goo Goo dolls and this “quick view” panel pops up on the right enabling me to see all the main key features of the Goo Goo Dolls without

having to click on any sights.

• After finding out the genre of my chosen band I can then find other bands of the same genre, by simply just typing in “American rock bands” and another “quick view” panel appears just below the search box. – This makes it so much easier to find similar bands without having to search around through a load of websites.

• To record our progress in the research, planning, construction and evaluation of our music video, we’ve used the blog site Tumblr.

• Tumblr is a blogging platform and social networking website founded by David Karp and owned by Yahoo! Inc. The service allows users to post multimedia and other content to a short-form blog.

• Tumblr was our favourite choice of blog site for many reasons.

1. Easy/straight-forward to use2. Allows more than one user to be on it at one

time3. Allows other media to be embedded into

each post. E.g. YouTube links, SlideShare powerpoint links, photographs and gifs.

Tips and tricks I found useful:

• Each blog post I do I may want to refer back and this would be impossible to do quickly if I had to search through all my other group members posts also. However, Tumblr enables me to find all my post and only my post by giving me the option to tag my name in each post.

Customising Tumblr.• Customising our blog page also gives us an advantage. We can

change our blog theme, colour and layout and this can become very handy.

• Going back to tagging our names: by having the option to customise our blog we could create a side panel giving us the option to create “tag links” linking us straight with our individual tagged blog posts.

Embedding YouTube link or SlideShare

• Another handy tip of Tumblr is the option to embed links to other website and media.

• The most common is YouTube embedding. This is simple as all you have to do is copy and paste the desired YouTube video’s URL into the blog post then highlight it and click the link button then paste the link into the URL

• I have used Photoshop in my research, analysing and evaluation for my music video.

• Adobe Photoshop is a graphics editing program

• It’s great for: 1. Picking apart photographs (analysis) 2. Editing and creating our digipak and magazine

advert

• Adobe Premiere is the software we used to edit our music video. It is good for getting the job done but has a number of setbacks.

• What I like about Premiere:1. Easy to use2. Has a number of good effects • What I didn’t like so much about Premiere:1. Has a tendency to slow down and freeze2. Doesn’t accept some footage

ADOBE PREMIERE

• Microsoft PowerPoint is a proprietary commercial presentation program.

• This is my favourite technology because it’s ace for answering questions straight to the point and is so simple to use.

• What I liked about PowerPoint:1. Easy to use2. Can perform multiple tasks

• Multiple tasks you can achieve:1. Can annotate pictures using arrow tool2. Can edit photographs by double clicking

inserted photos3. You can insert hyperlinks 4. Use a thesaurus, dictionary, language

translator, spell checker and researcher

These technologies working together

• The great thing about most of these technologies is that they link to each other.

For example: • Tumblr lets you incorporate YouTube, Powerpoints

(through slideshare) into your blog posts.• Google gives you direct links to YouTube.
