Eye Has Not Seen Eye has not seen, ear has not heard what God has ready for those who love him; Spirit of love, come, give us the mind of Jesus, teach us the wisdom of God.
When pain and sorrow weigh us down, be near to us, O Lord, forgive the weakness of our faith, and bear us up within your peaceful word.
Our lives are but a single breath, we flower and we fade, yet all our days are in your hands, so we return in love what love has made.
To those who see with eyes of faith, the Lord is ever near, reflected in the faces of all the poor and lowly of the world.
We sing a mystery from the past in halls where saints have trod, yet ever new the music rings to Jesus, Living Song of God.

This August, I went to Spain for World Youth Day. It was a great experience. We spent the first week touring Southern Spain. We visited Cordoba, Grenada and Seville. It was really fun seeing all the cultural and historical places, as well as trying Spanish foods and exploring the cities. We spent the second week in Madrid for World Youth Day. Throughout the city, we saw people from around the world everywhere! 2.5 million people from almost 200 countries attended World Youth Day. My favorite part was meeting different people from other countries. I talked to people from Slovakia, Bahrain, Italy, Zimbabwe, Ecuador, Guatemala, Australia and more! I loved listening to them talk about their experiences and lives. Going to the opening Mass was cool because there were so many people there. The Mass itself was a blur because everything was in Spanish and I could hardly hear or see anything, but seeing the amount of people from around the world sharing the same faith and celebrating Mass together was amazing. We also saw the pope once on the street. I was very disappointed that we did not get to go to the papal Mass, but we at least saw him up close on the day that the Stations of the Cross took place. We went to a small street that the pope passed. When we saw him pass and wave to us, everyone started cheering and chanting Benedicto. Even though it only lasted a few seconds, we were all very excited about it. We also attended catechesis, where we listened to speakers talk about the faith. They shared very touching stories. Eucharistic Adorations and Confessions took place throughout the city. I attended a Eucharistic Adoration at a local church, and I went to Confession at a catechesis session.
Overall, I enjoyed my trip, and it helped me see that the Church is universal. I hope that I have the opportunity to go to the next World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I was very thankful that I had the chance to go to this wonderful event, and last year, I never would have dreamed that I would be going to Spain for World Youth Day this year.
