PFBR is the first of its kind 500 MWe Fast Breeder Reactor in INDIA.

Sodium cooled mixed oxide fuel pool type reactor.

Forerunner of the second stage of the nuclear power program.

Largest and deepest excavated pit in Indian nuclear plants.

First Reactor on common RAFT.

Fabrication and manufacturing of critical NSSS components for the first

time at site by industry with close tolerances.

Salient Features

PFBR- Status of major equipments erection

All heavy large diameter reactor components like, Safety vessel, Main

vessel, Thermal Baffle, Grid plate, Inner vessel & Roof slab erection has

been completed.

Both small and large rotatable plugs erected and Insitu heavy density

concreting also have been completed.

Long components like steam generators, Decay Heat Exchanger, Hot &

Cold pool level detector housing etc., have been completed.

Fuel handling equipment like, Primary tilting mechanism, primary ramp ,

transfer pot and fuel building components have been erected and pre-

commissioning works are in progress.
