BCD to 7 Segment Display
A seven-segment display (SSD), or seven-segment indicator, is a form of electronic display device for displaying decimal numerals.
A seven segment display, as its name indicates, is composed of seven elements. Individually on or off, they can be combined to produce simplified representations of the numerals.
Seven segment display consists of seven elements, that are made of either LCDs (Liquid Crystal Display) or LEDs (Light Emitting Diode) The elements are labeled a-g. where the optional DP decimal point (an "eighth segment") is used for the display of non-integer numbers.
Depending on which elements are turned on, they display decimal numerals 0 through 9.
Each element is turned on when a logic input is applied to its corresponding input lead. The over bar above each letter indicates that it is turned on by an active logic input.
Here, “a” is turned on because the element is
forward biased. The purpose of resistor is to protect the element the current that flows through it.
BCD:BCD (Binary Coded Decimal) is a number system which consisting
of ten different 4-bit patterns of 1s and 0s that represent decimal numbers 0-9.
This table shows how ten BCD numbers shows ten decimal digits. The equivalent decimal value of each BCD number is determined by adding the weight of the bit patterns where 1s are placed.
Decoder has four inputs to which the 4-bit BCD numbers are applied. Each input is labeled with a capital letter, which represents one of the binary-weighted positional values.
Df
Input into the decoder each waveform time period that is an individual BCD number.

1.NOT gate:A breadboard is used to make up temporary circuits
for testing or to try out an idea. No soldering is required so it is easy to change connections and replace components. Parts will not be damaged so they will be available to re-use afterwards.
