` Incorporated on 25th April,1970.

` HUDCO was an expression of the concern of thecentral government in regard to the deteriorating

housing conditions in the country and a desire toassist various agencies in dealing with it in a positivemanner.

` The principal mandate of HUDCO was to amelioratethe housing conditions of all groups with a thrust to theneeds of low-income group (LIG) and economicallyweaker sections (EWS).

` To provide long term finance for construction of houses for residentialpurposes or finance or undertake housing and urban developmentprogrammes in the country.

` To finance or undertake, wholly or partly, the setting up of new or satellite town.

` To finance or undertake the setting up of industrial enterprises of building material.

` To administer the moneys received, from time to time, from theGovernment of India and other sources as grants or otherwise for thepurposes of financing or undertaking housing and urban development

programmes in the country.

` Has been entrusted the responsibility to finance urbaninfrastructure projects.

` For this, the ministry of urban development andpoverty alleviation, Govt. of India provides funds.

` Has so far sanctioned loan of more than Rs 25000 Cr for over 2000 urban infrastructure projects.

` Projects undertaken covers water supply, sewerage,

and drainage, solid waste management, road/bridges,airports, social infrastructure, area developmentprojects, commercial complexes, integrated low costsanitation and basic sanitation schemes.
