Where there is only one asset that requires PD monitoring, the HVPD Kronos® monitor can be installed nearby along with the sensors installed on the asset.

For monitoring of rotating machines, HFCT or HVCC sensors can be used, whereas for transformers the HFCT or Bushing Tap Adaptor sensors can be applied.

Developed in conjunction with Chevron, our industry-first solution locates PD on the network directly from the switchgear.

Using a combination of wideband sensors and the HVPD Kronos® monitor, this solution is able to differentiate between slot section PD (phase-to-earth) and end-winding PD (phase-to-phase).

Combined hardware and software de-noising technology for the HVPD Kronos® system provides reliable on-line PD condition monitoring of VSD motors.

Using SMART-TB3™ TriBand sensors, the system can effectively monitor PD activity within the stator windings of VSD motors by differentiating PD pulses generated within the HV motor and the switching pulses generated by the VSD drive.

Being able to differentiate between these two types of PD can be the difference between commissioning a relatively simple repair (end-winding) or removal of the rotor (slot section).

While being designed to monitor motors located in the Ex/ATEX zone, this solution can be applied to all electrical network assets, including transformers and generators.

The on-line PD monitor is engineered for the 24/7/365 monitoring of complete electrical networks.

Available in four, six and 24-channel, the HVPD Kronos® monitor captures up to six signal channels synchronously using its unique full cross point Smart Multiplexer, and provides information to help you avoid unplanned outages.

HVPD Kronos® Spot Tester

This portable diagnostic test unit is designed for detecting PD in all types of in-service plants.

The spot tester is a six-channel, synchronous, battery-powered test unit with a rugged and compact design optimised for field portability.

Quick and easy to set up, it detects the early stages of insulation deterioration, providing an early warning against MV and HV insulation faults, and supports condition-based maintenance schemes, reducing unplanned outages, downtime and maintenance costs.

In addition to PD detection, the device can be used for on-line PD cable mapping to locate significant cable PD to within up to 1% of the circuit’s overall length.

To increase your ability in assessing a machine's rotor/mechanical performance, the HVPD Kronos® Spot Tester has an add-on Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA) feature – non-intrusive, on-line test technique, used to assess the rotor condition of motors by analysing the frequency content of the current.
